The Kings did their best to move guard Jimmer Fredette — one of the many great mistakes of the past regime’s tenure — at last week’s trade deadline, but interest in Fredette was minimal. After acquiring guard Jason Terry in the deal that sent Marcus Thornton to Brooklyn, the Kings are poised to make Fredette a free agent by simply buying him out. Yahoo! Sports first reported the buyout.

Because he is among the best 3-point shooters in the league — he makes 49.3 percent from the arc — Fredette figures to attract much attention once the waiver process begins. Because Fredette played at BYU, he has long been linked to the Jazz, but sources indicated that Utah showed no interest in trading for him last week, even at a rock-bottom price.

To be honest good. Do not want the mass hysteria.

Does the FO pull the trigger to boost ticket sales in this down year?

I'd do it, and I hated the Jimmer-mania days.

He's not a starter, but for pick-me-ups on offense, he is great. He always seems ready to shoot when called upon.

The Kings didn't pick up his option for year 4, so are they really going to buy him out for the remainder of this season? That seems very wrong. If the Jazz had/have any interest in him, why would they trade for a player the Kings have already said will be a free agent in the offseason?

So is he going to be available this season, or in the offseason?

If it's the offseason: do it DL, just to see. We need some shooters going forward. RJ won't be here, and we need that corner 3.

The perfect fit for Jimmer is in Miami.

If I'm assuming your intent correctly, you envision him being that sniper off the bench? The guy who lights it up for 5 minutes at a time, and then rides the pine? I want him to do that here. We'll need that going forward.

So now we know the REAL season for claiming Thomas. Had to fill up 15 roster spots with guaranteed deals. Lindsey can now honestly say there isn't a roster spot open and all the current players have worked too hard to be cut to open a spot for Jimmer. Wise, wise man that Dennis Lindsey!

I hope he does get out of Sacramento, and I wish him well. Wherever he ends up.

I never got the Jommer hate. It's actually a nice story, a guy with average height, and average athletic ability makes it to the nba and shows he can sort of play. To me it's a feel good story for those that like those, and a non story for anyone else.

Charlotte would have been a decent fit before they got Neal.'

Philly would be a great fit. No defense and they just shoot a ton of quick shots. Jimmer might luck them into 1 win.

That isn't a story. If you read that story to anyone they would be pissed off and ask for a real story.
