Jimmer workout observer's reaction

I think momentum is building here, we could see Jimmer taken at 3. The OP was entertainingly over the top but some of the key points have been corroborated by multiple sources now. Jimmer is a complete player and as good of a point guard prospect as anyone not named Kyrie. I can't wait for draft night.

Mamma Fredette?

In this draft it's possible, but not probable. I just don't see KOC taking Jimmer with the 3rd pick (and I hope they don't with such a high pick), unless they find something they really don't like in the next week with Knight. It's possible they trade down with the Wizards to #6 so the Jazz edge out the Kings for Fredette and Washington could end up with the guy they really want, Kanter.

Even with all of that, I just don't see the Jazz brass going through all that just to get Fredette.

I like Jimmer, but if teams pick where they are right now, I think you'll see Jimmer in Sactown.

Holy hell, who in the **** is posting here? There is NO (none) chance that Jimmer Fredette will be selected #3. If anyone is actually serious about this .. nevermind.

Here's a more-balanced view of Jimmer from a writer in New York: Knicks must pass on Jimmer at #17. Some key points:
He became a coast-to-coast phenomenon as a BYU senior, running and gunning his way to a likely place among the top 15 picks on the night of June 23. But there's a legitimate chance Fredette might fall to No. 17, his preferred destination, and if the most recognizable name in college basketball does indeed put Donnie Walsh on the clock, the Knicks should do the one thing Fredette wasn't asked to do in school:

Pass.

This is no sweeping indictment of Fredette, who should have a long and productive NBA career in someone's rotation. At a muscular 6-foot-2 with a jump shot to die for, Fredette could end up as another Vinnie Johnson, a microwaveable option off a lucky coach's bench.
Any right-minded observer who watched Fredette in college knows that with a lot of work he will be a mediocre NBA defender, and probably something south of that.
He can't play shooting guard in a league where the much bigger and much better likes of Dwyane Wade man that position. At the point, Fredette's lack of lateral intensity will leave him vulnerable to the Derrick Roses, Rajon Rondos, Russell Westbrooks and Chris Pauls of the league.

PKM, if you can dream it, you can draft it.

Calm down for starstarstarstar sakes. =)

What happens is there's not alot of news coming out - then suddenly you hear a repot that someone outplayed someone else - and people overreact and move a player up entire tiers on their draft board when they probably should only be moved up 1-2 places.

I think any talk of Jimmer at 3 is clearly an overreaction. Pre-draft workouts are very useful - but we also saw this kid play college basketball for 4 years. Don't think 1 workout overcomes all the doubts scouts on Jimmer based off his play in real games.

You mean like everything after pick #2? Kanter is horribly unknown, then the combine comes and then he's sitting at #3 on countless mock drafts.

Welcome to the draft. Almost everything this year is fluid, and despite what you say, just 1 workout can move someone up or down multiple spots.

If the draft were today maybe Fredette goes earlier than expected. By the time draft day comes people will probably check themselves and the draft will probably go similar to what he mocks say.

The only team that might take Fredette is Sacramento. But I don't know that they will - some of the stuff I've been reading says their biggest need is SF and if Kawai's there they should take him.

I'd take Jimmer over Knight or Walker. The concerns seem answered. He's 2x the offensive player of either one. No denying that. If he were from UConn or Kentucky he'd go 1st.
