I think our own Joe Ingles is under-rated. Here is why:

He is under-rated.


Nah, jk, that's not why. He is under-rated because he isn't flashy and crazy athletic and all that crap. Instead, he has 3 important traits: 1) Loyalty. He was loyal to the org, to the team, to individual players, to the system. 2) Team player. Jingles runs the plays and plays hard. We are lucky to have a discount 2/3 hayward in Jingles. He can do some distributing, keeps guys involved, doesn't give up on plays, works his *** off. And he posted decent stats, with decent percentages and reasonable numbers for what he was asked to do (36% from 3, 42% FG, 75% FT, 5 pts, over 2 boards and assists in highly variable minutes. 3) He is funny. Dude is a glue guy in a big way. You get the feel that he is the veteran presence simply due to his age and experience, not NBA experience but life experience, when so many of our guys are young and green. He really took Exum under his wing, and had good rapport with the others. Locker room guys are needed and when they can hit the 3 at a decent clip and run the offense as asked, then they are even more valuable.

Therefore we cannot discount what Jingles can and will bring to the team next year. I for one am excited for him to be a part of the team. Jingle all the way bitches!

IAWTP. Jingles is one of those rare guys who could even lead from the bench. Keep him if at all possible.
 
Id play Jingles above lilsap his height , bb IQ, and the fact he'll help Dante...he belongs here, re-sign him

Jingles is the kind of guy that keeps pulling the team together during T.O.'s and stuff, settles things down on the court when we start running wild, the guy they show scrabbling around on the floor for the key loose ball, jumping off the bench in celebration for big shots, and then the first guy they interview after we win the championship who then gives all the credit to the other guys.

Pretty sure he was asking whether people would keep Jingles or Elijah if the choice came down to those two. I don't think he was asking which of the two your post was about. I would keep Jingles, BTW.
 
Jingles has a better than average 3 pt'er already. I think his intangibles are better than Lilsaps. I don't see Lilsap being the leader that Jingles is shaping up to be. Lilsap does have athleticism over Joe though, and he is a better defender. I don't mind keeping them both for the roll they play, but if I had to choose I keep Jingles.
 
Ingles becomes less valuable with the return of Burks and the hopeful increase of playmaking by Hood and Exum.

Sap still has value as our only wing with the ability and tenacity to really get after it defensively on a consistent basis.

Because clearly this provides the same advantages as an NBA staff and facilities...

Clearly he has his best chance to do so now. Time will tell.
 
I like jingles and Millsap. There's no reason they can't be our fourth and fifth wings. I like jingles and Millsap. There's no reason they can't be our fourth and fifth wings. Even though jingles was a rookie I think the players look at him like a veteran. Just depends on if he receives a big offer from another team. If he doesn't cost too much I think the Jazz will definitely bring him back.
 
Watching the team live was really when my appreciation for Jingles improved leaps and bounds. During warmups, he was dinking off with the other players, making everyone laugh and keeping things loose. Same thing during timeouts. Also, EVERY time he was on the floor, when there was a break in the action, Jingles was over by Snyder getting instructions. It was clear that Joe was highly regarded by Quin. He was a pest on defense (similar to Dellavedova) and he ran the offense, knocking down a couple of huge buckets in the game I was at. He also is, by far and away, the team's best trash talker. He was jawing with opponents the whole game.

His stats were good as he found his role, but it's all the stuff that doesn't show up in the box score that really sets him apart. He's the quintessential "glue guy" and the Jazz will lose an important part of their developing culture if they let him go. I'm hopeful they can work out a reasonable extension with him and we get a few more years of Jingles in Utah.
 
Here's something I keep mentioning:

Ingles had a terrible body last year. And yet he was still effective. I think he could be very, very useful if he took better care of his body. Imagine if he could get just a half second quicker. Jump just an inch or two higher. Get in a little better shape.

I think he could be as useful as Burks if he fixed his body.
