John Callipari likened Enes Kanter as "a Karl Malone-ish kind of guy"

As we learn more about Kanter, it seems Coach Cal may be at least somewhat correct in his "Karl Malonish" comparison. I was blown away by the low level of body fat Kanter has on him for a big guy. That low of a body fat % is not a fluke. It means the guy is working his *** off. It's starting to sound like his work ethic is off the charts. Combine that with his measurables and I don't see how Utah can possibly pass on him @ 3 (if he makes it that far).

Just wondering - Did anyone think that getting a center type player associated with your school picked number one in the draft might help in your recruiting of bigs? Besides he would look bad to his players if he said Kanter is not worthy to be picked number one. Coaches are suppose to help their players both in college and moving on into the professional ranks. Just saying............

Do you remember when Rick Majerus said Andrew Bogut had macular degeneration and would be blind eventually. Man, THAT was hysterical!

I just hope the Jazz get either Kanter or Williams or Irving. Then they get the best player available at 12 or even better they some how move up and get the PG they want. Watching the playoffs, it is obvious that the Jazz are several players away from being a legitmate contender so they need to acquire as much talent as possible and then sort out the roster.

My thoughts exactly. Jazz have AK off the books this past season, Okur off the books this coming season and Jefferson/Harris/Millsap coming off the books the season after. That's about 65 million dollars in cap space and expiring contracts. My guess is at least 3 of those 5 players won't be re-signing - quite possibly none of them. In other words, 3 years from now this team will most likely be be Hayward, Favors and about a dozen questions marks.

To fill a present need is short sighted franchise suicide. Forget about what the team looks like today - Jazz should be all about acquiring the best assets.

.

Having your PG go number one wouldn't hurt his recruiting either. Personally, I don't think what John C. said had anything to do with how it would affect his recruiting. The guy already is the best recruiter in the NCAA. He has re-stacked his roster every year with top 5 NBA guys. What I think is more accurate is that John C. has coached many great players and he thinks Kanter is the real deal. :)

Can Kanter speak like Malone? Can Kanter do this?!

He has played pro ball since he was what, 16? That is good credentials. He must have played against some pro talent older than college kids in Europe.

He played almost no minutes in Turkish League that is not that great. How is that "good credentials." It's not like he was a good player and proved anything at all. Just being on a roster does not prove anything. AK47, on the other hand, was recognized as best player in Europe when he was 16, and even he didn't exactly have Malone-like career.

How would Kanter busting hurt Callipari's credibility? The guy is a college coach, whose specialty is preparing top prep talent for the NBA. If Kanter ends up being picked 1 or 2, regardless of how he turns out, more top prep players are going to want to play for Callipari because they'll know that he's working for them and their future. For that reason, I put no stock in Callipari's saying here. It's completely self serving.
