John Stockton’s dirty little secret

I disagree with that. The only reason the jazz made the finals the first time was because of Stockton. They might’ve won a game seven, but who knows. I’ve seen him take over countless games including that game 6 vs the Rockets. He was capable of averaging 20 a game but felt he was best for the team playmaking for others.

Yes, he played with Malone for 19 years or whatever, but he also played with a ****** roster overall besides Malone, and and no one at that time could beat MJ, nobody.

He’s the all time leader in steals and assists, was a great shooter, and defender till about 94-95 somewhere in there.

The one difference between him and the other great pg’s is they had great rosters around them. Other then Malone and a declining Horny, those jazz teams had a roster of backup at best players around him. The jazz just didn’t spend the money during his time.

Put him on Magic’s Lakers or have him play with Thomas’s Pistons, or have him trade places with Steph Curry.

I’ve always contended that he was the best ever at his position because he did more then anyone with less. All those great pg’s that won titles won because they were blessed with so much talent up and down there rosters. Stockton had Malone and an aging and declining Horny, a couple decent backup worthy players and scrubs.

Stockton was an absolute beast. Payton even said Stockton was the toughest to guard, and that was with one hand. Does that mean he’d have been the best ever if he played with two hands?

It's difficult to argue that he wouldn't have been better, especially in the clutch. if he had played with both hands. It would be interesting if someone can find highlights of him going left. It would also be interesting to see if teams were routinely forcing him left in the clutch, and what the results were.

The real "true dirty secret" is that John Stockton was actually left handed. He played exclusively with his right hand because it was the only way the game challenged him. Had he played with his left, he would have completely broken the timeline, the Jazz would have won 10 consecutive championships, and the NBA would have folded.

That's the truth, if you can handle it.

I’ve been watching old classics all day, and Stockton uses his left plenty. It just seems like he doesn’t because he’s not flashy or anything.

Been watching old jazz games most of the day on nba tv, and loving it. At 10:30 mountain time if anyone is interested they are showing Jazz vs OKC game 6. That game too k years off my life it was that good a game. I’ll be watching and reliving DM’s greatness.

Stock had more steals too. He was just the better player
The year I posted Stockton had a lower assist percentage which is a more accurate than just assists. The next year that thee claims is better Stockton had less steals than him. It's overwhelming when you look at all the stats how many categories CP3 is better than a Stockton stats wise. I think there are reasons for that including different rules.

I dislike Chris Paul. I dislike arguing for him and I think Stockton was a better player. But in his peak years Stockton is factually worse on stats alone. I guess if you look for the couple things he is slightly better and ignore advanced stats and other things he is worse at, homer glasses make him look better.

I don’t care if Stockton only averaged 5 assists and 5 points. He would still be the better player by far

He was one of the most unique players to ever suit up. Unlike Magic or Thomas or Oscar, what they did have been reproduced, there will never be anything like Stockton. No one ever played the game like him and no one ever will. IMO there has never been a smarter more selfless and consistent player like Stockton. The only thing he lacked was a true championship level roster.

Who has reproduced what Magic did?
