Jordan Clarkson Trades?

I mean last year he was awesome when playing with a real pg... Mike. He dropped off after that. I think part of his struggles was trying to operate more as a pg. I think you are focused a bit too much on one year versus career and situation. I don't think his value is sky high. I think it is close to neutral.

I think the bad year factors in but when you look at what he was trying to do... operate as a pg more on a team that wasn't a juggernaut and didn't fit super well... and there are some legit reasons he struggled. He didn't look slower or old to me. Return back to a chucker role and he may be good.

He wasn’t that good the year before anyways. But even if you think he was, it’s just dumb to think starting was the problem when he started 100% of the time when he was “good”.

Maybe he’ll get better, he was so bad it is difficult to be worse. But as far as trade value goes, he was easily one of the worst vets in the NBA playing big minutes. He does have a favorable reputation, but can’t ignore his performance.

From what I can gather from the post you were responding to they were saying that clarkson struggled due to not having a pass first point guard which forced clarkson to have be more of a playmaker. I saw nothing about clarkson struggling due to starting in the post you quoted. fwiw

I don’t think starting was the issue… it was role and general apathy.

He started about a third of his games last season. Clarkson started every game the year prior and was way better.

There’s always a chance a player rebounds, especially when they sucked so bad, but yall reaching way too much.
It's not about coming off the bench vs starting. It's about him being a bucket getter off the bench vs a starting playmaker. A playmaker he is not. A proven bucket getter, yes. And he is most effective off the bench against backups. Once the fire is lit, it doesn't matter who he plays against.

We keep using a wire stripper like it's a hammer. Not optimal. Noptimal.

He's one of the worst bucket getters in the league. If anything, the added playmaking responsibilities are his saving grace because otherwise he is simply the worst at doing his role in the entire league and does nothing else. His best month of basketball in the last two seasons was a starter and with Conley injured. This is when he took on more playmaking duties than he has in his career playing alongside Sexton in the starting lineup.

It would be nice to use him in a deal where we don’t have to spend to dump him. It would be nice to make a deal with the rockets and send Clarkson and 10 with minny ‘25 for the rockets #3 and filler like landale.
