THT was given plenty of opportunity.

He doesn’t have a position. He doesn’t have a consistent shot. Not quick enough to defend guards and not big enough to defend NBA wings.

He’ll probably shine in the Chinese League but not suited to the NBA.
Disagreed! Coach didn’t like him going all Alpha but he could sure as hell score. And he played some D - close to 2 steals a game and 1 block per 36 last season, close to to 4 steals a game per 36 his best season.

Yeah I forgot he was a defensive juggernaut … so many teams qued up to grab him in free agency we had to miss out.

Bummer.

An eye opener for me was late in the season when Hardy let THT, Yurt7, Luka, Juzang and Potter out of the kennel club and the team was competitive going 2-2. I know it wasn't real NBA but it showed they could play a little ball.

Lofton Jr was absolutely bad. Tried to bully ball like Kobe Brown did but he was too short for it. Harkless was completely hounding Collier and Abmas.
Kobe a downhill bully. It felt like he could get past anyone if he got his shoulder by them, but he didn't have great control when he got there.

Sane is interesting to me. He made some eye opening plays in the game and is still very young. It looks like he had been playing for the Ignite, which probably wasn't helping him develop at all. I think he could be interesting to invest some of our development dollars in to.
He's an African Academy player iirc. Extremely raw and no game whatsoever. He's two years away from being two years away

I think with a halfway decent coach, we could have done some damage. Literally every team we faced had offensive and defensive schemes in play - we had iso and man to man.
I'm not 100% if the fault should go to Sheldon. Could be that we wanted to experiment at the cost of playing well.. could be that our guys werent as hungry as lots of them already had a spot secured.... but whatever it was we definitely didnt look like we tried to win as much as most of the other teams.

I thought the W-L results of SL were very disappointing. It seems like the games the Jazz won were edgy. I was disappointed in the play of Kenny, Bazely and Preston. The rooks and second year guys had their moments. It'll be interesting to see how Hardy scripts things like WWE to get us the pole position in the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes.

I can’t say that I think much of Sean Sheldon as a coach honestly, regardless whatever metric.

Lofton tried to cut his weight to fit in the pace of NBA. But I think in doing so he's lost what made him special in the first place. He's not Zion in terms of athleticism and will likely struggle with fitness/condition if he keeps his fat (just like Zion) but at least he can make a long and productive career away in Europe/China as a mini Shaq/Barkley type. But as jazzfans we just have to accept he’s not the profile of player that can succeed in today's NBA.

I don't think any conclusions should be drawn from a few summer league games. Give Lofton good minutes on the big league and see how he plays.
Yeah but when you are a end of bench guy you can't really throw away opportunities by playing like ***. It's one thing if you're just missing shots, but his process has been just as bad as his results.

At the end of the day you have to face reality that Kenny probably just doesn't have it. He's not tall enough to play the way he does and if he combines that with ball-stopping and turnovers, yeah it's not going to work out. Plus the 3pt shot has looked awful. Everyone he takes looks like he's undecided in his mind if he should shoot or dribble

I'm not against cutting him at this point. Id rather keep Bazley and Id probably rather sign someone like Dereon Seabron.

I see a lot of potential in Lofton and would definitely keep him on our roster.
