Game Thread Jun 16, 2021 08:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Clippers - Game 5

Added to Calendar: 06-16-21

Man, some of you already sound like we're eliminated from the playoffs! Jazz still have a shot at this. Two in a row and bring on the sun's dammit!

I predicted Jazz in 7 before the series started so I'm sticking to that. But some the cringe homer jazz predictions were like jazz in 4 or in 5. I'm like nah, you're totally underestimating the Clippers. The shame...

Don’s ankle looks done, guy. That was the final straw. We will lose game 6 by 20+.

Conley has already come out and said he has had a setback so he is done for the playoffs I reckon so is the team and time to blow up the team and get rid of the hacks on the bench except Clarkson and who would want o’neal he would be worthless in a trade and niang absolute zero worth maybe bogey is worth the most on that roster

Our player development are wasting their precious time out there working on guys whose ceiling is just somebody else’s floor.
This right here. I've been saying it for years. There are many high ceiling potential guys (i.e. athletic, long, etc.) who are drafted and don't work out during their rookie contracts or are high college recruits who don't get drafted (look at any of the recent Kentucky and Kansas recruiting classes). People always ask for names and I can come up with a couple when I have time, but to me, when it comes to player development, get the guy who is blessed with a good basketball body (potentially high ceiling) and develop him into a basketball player.

We need to nab Marcus Garrett from Kansas. Lockdown perimeter guy. He would be our Thybulle. He’ll be available late second round.

Nah, I don't believe that. Jazz don't have a choice but to play better now. Their back is against the wall now and that in itself is a motivation to try harder. Not just Donovan, but everyone. The time is now boys, don't give up the Jazz just yet. The series is going to get good for the Jazz.

One thing that drives me nuts is our lack of toughness/tenacity. We take too much **** from opposing players. What I mean is back in the day if someone was going off and punking you i.e. Jackson, there would be a hard foul taken to put him in his place, let him know you're not putting up with him making crazy shots or dribbling around trying to embarrass Rudy (see Malone's elbows and Isaiah Thomas' head; Raja Bell on Kobe). We all know PG is a ***** and backs down when confronted, he's also pretty mentally weak so when he drives and does his forearm pushoff Royce or someone needs to hammer him to the ground or when Jackson is dicking around run at him and hit him. I get it, it seems dirty and could cause injury, but it's part of the game of trying to get into people's heads. We just don't have anyone willing to do that it seems. Ingles used to talk and mess with people but he's out of sorts. I guess I want what Crowder used to do in a sense, however, I hated his shot selection.

That is stupid. A hard foul doesn't take anyone out of shot making it raises for fight in you. We couldn't hit a shot and that why we lost.

We will still win this series

Had the jazz held serve at home I would agree with you but, after losing game five, I don’t believe they have it in them to win game six. Especially when you consider how they played in LA so far this series.

If they can't be motivated for literally the biggest game in their careers last night why would they be motivated for Friday? These guys got manhandled by a team missing it's best player.

Unfortunately this^ I mean c’mon, we played out of our minds in the first half and still couldn’t beat them. Leonard and Ibaka out but they still had too many fresh horses for our team. Have you ever seen so many former All Stars and 1st rounders assembled? Playing against our assortment of D League alum, and mostly second rounders. They bring in Pat Bev or Rondo , we bring in Oni. Honestly, I don’t know who to blame, the league that promotes player controlled contracts, and defection to super teams or a coach that has shut down every decent bargain free agent we’ve ever had discouraging others to come here.

I'm extremely disappointed by last night, but I can still see us winning this series.

They played absolutely lights out all game. If we can quiet their crowd enough to squeak by, then we hold all the cards for game 7.

Little things like replacing Royce with Bojan at the top of the offense when they trap Don on the wing. Minor adjustments and a realistic output from their non-stars and maybe we grind it out.
