Kanter for???

Let's say that Lindsey wants to build an athletic team that can defend and knock down the three. That means that he would probably keep Hayward and look to move Kanter (allowing your starting bigs to eventually be Gobert and Favors). Who could you trade Kanter for? I mentioned Deng in another thread, but then someone pointed out that he is in his 30's, and I didn't like that deal anymore.

Who is out there that the Jazz could dangle Kanter for?

Well without knowing which teams would be interested, I would look to dangle Kanter for a high enough pick to draft Embiid. A rotation of Gobert/Favors/Embiid would fit the bill of being athletic and mobile. Sactown, Washington or Cleveland might be a perfect trade partner. However this is a gamble due to not knowing where the pick will land.

So if the Jazz keep Hayward, draft Wiggins/Parker where is Barnes going to play?

I hate the Mayo idea. Barnes isn't enough. Beal may be too much (realistically).

I agree with your assess. Just tossing stuff out there. Kanter is a really tough piece to look at. He has so much potential, but, do you have to build a team around him? Is he athletic enough to really carry a team? What if turns into Kevin Love? Is that good enough to build around? But then, if you do trade him, it is tough to find a good trade for him, because you have no good how good he is.

Beal, really, really interests me. Like I'd do Kanter and Burks for Beal. And maybe a pick. Lottery protect that GS pick.

That would give Utah an amazing shooter at the two and this core:

Burke
Beal
Hayward
Parker
Favors

That is a pretty good starting 5. Much better than:

Burke
Burks
Hayward
Favors
Kanter

Right now, I'd take Hayward at 10 per over Kanter at 14. I'm not sure Kanter is athletic enough to build around and give a max deal to.

I have never understood the Kanter love.

He is a goofy character among a bunch of drones I will give him that. But he is nonathletic, stuck to the ground, has the BBIQ of Ty Corbin, has little if any composure on the court and plays the exact same position as the guy the Jazz just committed 4 yrs 40 Million to.

If it wasnt a mistake to draft him, then it certainly has been a series of mistakes the way they use him.

Not bad. I really want a vet of some kind. I don't want a new coach with 3+ draft picks next year. You can't win that way. Also, I really, really want a three point shooter. Big time. That shot is so valuable. If you kept Hayward, I would run Barnes, Hayward, and Parker at the 2-4 positions. Heck, Parker is tall enough that you could give him some burn at the 5 spot. 5 mins a game or so. Parker really excites me because he is so athletic and versatile.

I'm glad we drafted Kanter. BUT, I don't think he is athletic enough to carry a team to a title. I see him as an asset. I hope the Jazz use that asset instead of Millsaping him.

What about Favors defense as of late? Hasn't been that good... You are all too ready to throw the towel in on every player right now just because we're not winning. We are designed to lose right now. With a rookie PG who can't facilitate, a backup PG who can't facilitate or score, R.J. getting extended minutes, Corbin coaching, Rush having a mental block, Beidrins being himself --we have no hope, and no real basis for judging anyone too harshly right now. Every defensive lapse isn't Kanters fault. Favors has looked horrible as well lately, and it is due to poor perimiter defense by Burke, Lucas, Burks, and Jefferson. Those guys can't defend, which makes everyone elses rotations a lot harder. If Favors is looking bad defensively, you know something is up.

Chill out with the "let's trade so and so for..." talk right now. Kanter is still an elite level prospect, and very young. He still has a lot of untapped potential. I still believe he can hit the 3 ball if given that green light.

True. BUT, I still think that if you are within three games of the worst record in the last month, you sit your starters. Parker is more important than any of those guys. You get that #1 spot in the lottery.
