Kanter Review in the First Preseason Game

maybe he was told to work on that move the whole game?
This isn't even preseason - it's summer league.

I think Kanter will be fine - no reason to overreact. That being said, anyone who thought he would be ready this year for major minutes is drinking kool-aid. That is why the Jazz won't move Al or Sap unless we get a big in return. Not going to happen, even if has a great summer league.

That's OK - that's fine.

But where's the hook shot? Tim Duncan used the running hooks almost exclusively to get around Jefferson/Favors.

For crying out loud - Kevin Durant used it against LeBron in the Finals to great effect - and he's playing the SF!!

Even Shaq went on TNT saying he makes his living on 2 moves, the hook shot and the up & under inside shot. They're simply the 2 Moves that works well together.

If you can't sink that hook shot - players are not going to be fooled by the up & under!!!

For the love of God I have no idea why nobody has bothered to teach or tell Kanter to use the hook shot?!?!

Agreed, Kanter does need to work on that to better sell the up and under. I look forward to seeing him progress.

I hate to say this, but things aren't looking good. People were saying the exact same things about Kanter last year but making the excuse that he hadn't played the year before. Well, he's had a full NBA season under his belt. Has he gotten any better? Sounds like he may be another Koufos. But I sure hope not.

Not quite.

What was concerning is that Kanter didn't looked like he improved. He was playing against the youngest center in the league next year and couldn't draw fouls and couldn't get his shot off. He needs to know that he will need to play below the rim and he has to get some more post moves than an up and under. He will be able to rebound at a high level, but I would be very surprised if he is ever going to be a dependable scorer in the league. I think in 5 years, fans will look back at him as a bust.

What the **** happened to the Nike Hoops summit game? He had like two spin moves that game that made me go "wow". Now he does the same move over and over.

This. Plus that three point shot he had. I'm not saying I want the guy to be raining **** down but pull Drummond out to 15 feet or so, and then make that sweet *** move I know you can make you big goofy *******.

Kanter did seem better passing out of the post today. Also had some nice blocks. This is just a summer league game, people.

I'm starting to think that having Big Al mentoring Kanter is one the main reasons why his development fails.

No..

The coaches are responsible for developing young talents - not team mates. Granted, Al had really taken Kanter under his wings and showed him a move or 2. But that's where it ends. Al is not responsible for seeing through Kanter's development. Corbin & his entourage of coaches need to do a better job of tailoring training to suit each player's needs.

KOC seemed to have given Corbin free reign with regard to hiring of assistant coaches. I believed Corbin was behind the hiring of his 'friends' as assistant coaches - both Lowe and Sanders (as the big man coach) were his colleagues.

Sanders was criticized at that time as not having enough experience or 'height' to do so - Sanders is 6'9. Bynum had Abdul Jabbar, Howard had Ewing & Olajuwon. But OK - I give Corbin the benefit of the doubt and time to prove himself (last year with the lockout and what not).

But sooner or later you have to look at the results. Corbin has 1 year left on his contract, and with a full Summer League and training camp this year - there should be no more excuses. I'll be counting on him to bring Kanter along and seeing some results this year.
