What's new

Kanter va Biyambo

not flash in pan

He was? What for 1 or 2 years? Then once off the Pistons he was one of the most over paid players in the league.

4× NBA Defensive Player of the Year, 4× All-Star, 6X All-NBA Defensive Team, 5× All-NBA

Major stud, not a flash in the pan

Defensively yes. You didn't specify that in your original statement.

It's safe to assume that he was saying that because of his defensive prowess. Unless Archie really enjoys sub 50% free throw shooters who also shoot below 45% from the filed.

It's not safe to assume it at all. He said he was one of the best players ever. Is Omar Vizquel now one of the best baseball players ever? No.

The overall impact a defensive short stop has is no where near comparable to the overall impact a dominant defensive and rebounding center is. It was a pretty safe assumption Archie was basing this off defense. Don't be an idiot for the sake of being an idiot.

It's funny to see idiots on this board talking about Biyombo, a player who has yet to play 50 minutes in this league.

It's so funny you can call me an idiot because I said I can't see what 'potential' he has. I'm so glad douchbags like you that don't see eye to eye try to be an Internet tough guy. Cookie for you.

Ben Wallace is a top 3 all-time defender/rebounder, which easily slates him as at least a top 50 all-time NBA teammate. Not sure why some are arguing against this. Imagine the 94-98 Jazz with Ben Wallace at center...

Save your breath, Cope -- it's douchebags like him that cause the problems, and then bitch and whine to the moderating staff when someone does it back to them.

I would love to see Byambo (sp?) on the Jazz, but I wouldn't expect him to contribute for at least a season or two until he figures out the fundamentals of basketball. As far as him vs Kanter, we have already seen a glimpse of what Kanter can do, and he has a toughness in the post that we haven't seen since Malone, so I very much want to keep him around.

Combined with the lack of finishing ability we haven't seen since Jarron Collins.

.......... Many wanted Biyombo at #3 and my point is why? If he was being compared best case as a Wallace.

That is exactly the argument many of us made against drafting Biyombo. Not that Ben was a bad player, but that he wasn't worth a #3 overall pick if that was his ceiling.

Laughable. If you think Ben Wallace would have cracked the NBA's 50 greatest players (or whatever it was called about a decade+ ago), you're absolutely insane.

Nevertheless, the analogy is fair, relative to the sport. Quite simply, when people say, who are some of the best players of all-time in the NBA, Ben Wallace's name would never enter the conversation. Not rocket science. Idiot.

Defense takes more time than anything to be effective at in the NBA and that's all Biyombo will be doing out there.

Too early to tell. I'm quite happy with Kanter right now.

Never said he'd crack that list, but I do consider him to be one of the best defenders of all time regardless of position, and if I was a defense-oriented coach and you're constructing a best of all-time team, Id definitely consider Wallace being one of the 5 best players you could chose for the 5. Just my opinion, though.

Or if you have an offensive PF and you need a defensive/rebounding minded C.
