Kanter watch

lol why are people still going on about defensive rating for individual players?

A player's defensive rating gets dragged waayyy down when they play with garbage defensive teammates. Similarly, a player's offensive rating gets a massive boost when they play alongside elite offensive talent.

There's too many variables to draw any sort of meaningful conclusions. It shouldn't be a hard concept to grasp.

Well defense is really hard to statistically quantify. People use dRTG not because it is so good but because there are not much better alternatives.

I found a video that shows where Enes Kanter learned his footwork on offense. I wish he had similar footwork on defense and didn't seem to be walking on mud on that end.

lol, Kanter destroying Hassan Whiteside. 7-9 shooting 15 points, 4 rebounds in the first quarter.

Kanter on fire against Miami...he has 19 points at halftime with 9-12 shooting.(with an ankle sprained few days ago)

Jazz didn't exploit enough his offensive talent.

It is inexplicable that he was the 4th offensive option with the Jazz and now suddenly he is carrying offensively a team with All-star players to the playoffs.

We can begin to say the Jazz traded him for peanuts.

Kanter looks disposable with McHustle playing so well. Especially when he blocked (Mitch McGary) Hassan Whiteside. When Kanter is on offense, you just don't get too surprised that he creates scoring a lot. When he is on defense, he is pure shame.

Damn Mitch is beating up the Heat pretty bad right now. He's a rookie. They would probably go with him, find him enough because Kanter will get paid a lot and rookie contract will be a lot cheaper. And I have noticed that since he plays with so much hustle, he affects Adams and Westbrook to hustle more. Reminds me of Rudy effect.

I don't know where Zach Lowe gets the allowing 109 points for 100 possessions.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/k/kanteen01.html

According to this he allows 105 points per 100 possessions. He also scores 121 pts per 100 possessions. He has the highest net + per possession on any player on the Thunder including Russel Wilson and Serge Ibaka. The only exception is Kevin Durant. What is his per 100 possession stats? 121 pts per 100 on offense and 104 on defense. Almost identical to Kanters. If you are looking at per 100 possession stats and are saying Kanter is bad than you must also say KD is bad too.
Russell wilson plays basketball now? :)

So looking at postgame thread on general NBA forums.

About the Thunder bigs

"McGary/Kanter/Adams came up big."

"I hate the Thunder's bigs. They're like giant dunking marsh-mellows that took a dump on us today."

Heat fans

"Enes ****ing Kanter just **** all over us"

"Man, Kanter is so frustrating."

OKC/other team fans

"Russell "Oscar Robertson" Westbrook and Enes "Shaquille O'Neal" Kanter balled out."

"Kanter continues to be a HUGE pickup, 27/12 and his defense hasnt been as terrible as advertised lately. Monster on the offensive boards again with 6 tonight"

"Points Enes Kanter. Rebounds Enes Kanter.
Can we kinda make fun of this guy a little bit less already?"

"Kanter tho ate whiteside"

If there's one thing you can say about Kanter is that the kid had a nice stroke and quite the offensive game. He looks to be fitting quite nicely on the OKC squad. I hope he's successful.
