Discuss. It feels like a bold prediction, but it could happen if the Jazz get the 4th or 5th seed in the west. After all, COY is almost entirely based off of a team's performance relative to preseason expectations, regardless of how flawed thos expectations may be.

I will be very surprised if Corbin is able to pull of something Sloan never did. The Jazz always get looked over for these kind of things. It has been mentioned before, but I will say it again - before the season starts, the Jazz are the team no one talks about and then when the season commences and the Jazz do well, they all claim that they knew the Jazz would be able to do well- and then nothing else is mentioned about the team. If the T-Wolves really come out and surprise everyone this year, I see Rick Adelman bringing home that award.

Frank got the award, and didn't another Jazz coach win it as well before Jerry?

Phil Johnson got the award when he was coach of the Kansas City Kings.

JS never got the award because he had Stockton/Malone and it was always expected that the Jazz would win. Truth be told, the Jazz UNDERACHIEVED many years. They won 60 or more games just 3 times and reached the WC finals just 4 times with Stockton and Malone. Sloan's best coaching job, IMO was the 42-40 record n 2003-04. Tough decision that year because Hubie Brown also did a fantastic job with the Grizzlies.

Popovich has only won it twice and Phil Jackson once. The award generally does go to coaches whose teams have overachieved. It's also true that a lot of COY's are fired within a few years of getting the award.
