The Stampede traded guard Kevin Murphy to the Grand Rapids Drive for guard Brandon Fields.

Murphy was averaging 22.6 points per game for Idaho this season. Fields, a 6-foot-4 Nevada grad, is scoring 14.1 ppg.

Idaho will host Rio Grande Valley at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Never knew d-league did trades or understand why they do them

As much as it's about development, you have to win to keep your job. Each D-League team tries to field the best roster possible and then deals with call-ups and send-downs as best they can.

so wait, they traded a 22 ppg scorer for a 14 ppg scorer? how does that win games for you? I wonder if this was a Lindsey move, they knew that Murpy wouldn't fit in, like we knew a couple years ago, so they wanted to look at someone new, and have easy rights to them?

Don't think we had the rights to Murphy. Doubt if we now have them for Fields. Just a guess, but trades for players whose rights are owned by a different team would probably have needed to be done before the NBA trade deadline. But yeah, getting a look at someone who plays in Idaho is easier than going to Grand Rapids.

I think it is to get Ian Clark more touches.

I saw Ian play twice over the weekend and he made CJ Miles look like a non-chucker. Ian mostly played the 2 and did not have a lot of assists. The guy I thought looked really good was Chris Johnson the guy who had one 10 day contract with the Jazz this year.

Better stick to track.
