Keyonte George Hype & Appreciation Thread

Trey Burke (First two seasons): 12.8 ppg / 2.8 rpg / 5.0 apg on 37% FG / 32% 3FG
Keyonte George (First two seasons): 13.2 ppg / 2.8 rpg / 4.6 apg on 38% FG / 33% 3FG
I've been saying this for over a year now. The dude is Trey Burke 2.0

Much higher potential for George though due to his size and athleticism advantage over burke

New potential projected outcome for Keyonte…

Tyler Herro

With his usage getting dialed back, his efficiency is improving. He’s a fairly reliable spot-up shooter with secondary creation. It’s when he tries to get funky with it off the dribble that his make % drops.

Two positives about Keyonte's shooting in November.
  • He has 7 games (out of 11) where he shot 40% or better from three.
  • He has not had two games in a row where he shot below 40% from three.

That is a promising sign that he is developing some consistency. His October was obviously awful (the whole team was anemic), but his increasing 3P% is not a result of few random hot shooting nights.

His shot is beautiful. Had to start going in eventually.

I always feel like Keyonte plays a lot better when he is playing next to Lauri. He needs some other offensive players to play with to take some of the offensive load off of him. It will be interesting if Lauri misses some time how Keyonte fairs.

Crazy how different the splits are for Keyonte in W's/L's in terms of shooting %'s

When he becomes consistent as a shooter, the Jazz can really start winning games.

I still believe he is gonna be really good eventually. It's fantastic that it isn't coming to fruition this season though.

His offense is on a trajectory to be good, maybe even very good. Defense is really holding him back. Still think he ends up like Monk where he rides that line between starter and very good 6th man.

His passing (getting better) decision making and turnovers all need a lot of work on offense.

Its amazing how playing w/Collier seems to increase Key's assist game. Maybe his competitive juices are going as far as keeping his assist numbers comparable- if so, great!
Good thought. I have noticed that it seems like keyonte assists have increased playing with Collier.
Maybe it was sexton holding him back

He's just in his proper role now. Once he actually gets a chance to play with a full team and spend time learning to play as a team he will only get better. The whack a mole lineup the Jazz play has to be frustrating.

I do miss watching Sexton play though.

Still bullish on Keyonte. More and more I see a 6th man future for him, but in a good way.

Not sure he’s a true PG and you’re gonna want more size / better defense from someone playing off the ball.

But he’s gonna be a bucket for a long time.

I think his decission making is pretty good for a 2nd year guy. Sexton and Clarkson dribble into trouble much more than Key, and he isnt really taking Svi-type shots either unless clock forces them.

He misses some open guys but when he sees them he passes. Throws a lot of successful lobs as well, and not a lot of bad ones.
