What's new

Kirilenko appreciation page

I still think Kirilenko's No. 47 jersey should be retired by the Jazz!

Yeah. Let's retire his jersey for being the single biggest reason that Jazz team stalled on the court and in the locker room. As long as it's clear it's being retired in infamy, go for it.

Here are a couple of things I will miss:

I couldn't go out with a girl who dressed like that...

(wait for it)

The jersey retirement won't happen. To be honest, the bar for jersey retirement on our team has already been set too low (Darrell Griffith?!).

Darrell Griffith deserved to have his Jersey retired...
1. The "Golden Griff" is the only player to ever win Rookie of the Year honors in the franchise's 41 year history.
2. He was instrumental towards bringing the franchise to respectability in the pre-Stockton/Malone era.
3. During the early years of the 3 point line - He held the NBA record for most 3-pointers made in a single season (twice)
4. Played his entire career for the Utah Jazz.
5. Was a perfect "citizen" both as a player on the Jazz and his involvement with the community. Never heard of any negative press about the guy during his time in Salt Lake City.

However, I agree with others that AK doesn't deserve to have his jersey retired. He had a few really good seasons, but he also brought a lot of baggage that tarnished his legacy in Utah.

AK was a ****ing crying little *****, plain and simple.

Soft or not, he was a game changer. In close games he proved that his defense can win games.

He had lot of injuries because he played with big intensity every night. He had that emotional outburst during the playoffs but he said in that interview that he will play hard anyway no matter how many millions he has. This is something to respect. In addition he said he was willing to revise his contract because he had the feeling he was not deserving that huge contract.

His frustration was licit, I saw so many games in which he was totally ignored offensively by his teammates and not involved in the Jazz offense. His offense was not great but not that bad either.

Not to mention that he has been an exemplar sportsman both on and off the court.
