That is a misleading statistic being that more people live where lightning occurs (basically everywhere) than where sharks live.

Again, my point is that both causes of death are very rare but death by lightning is way way more likely. Shark attacks are overrated by media and movies when in fact they are quite rare. In last 56 years there were 35 fatal shark attacks in USA while on average you have 51 death by lightning per year!

Ya people getting hit by lightning have a higher chance of death than someone bit by a shark.
There are all different kinds and sizes of sharks. Little tiny ones, ones that are a little bigger, medium size ones and then the big ones. Some species of shark only attack in defense and once you flee they leave you alone.

There is only one species of lighting... The sizzling species. You get hit by lightning and you might live, but you will be ****ed up.

You could get attacked by a shark and not even get injured enough to need medical attention.

Definitely a higher chance you will die when lightning hits you than when a shark attacks you.


Regardless, when I'm in the ocean I'm more worried about sharks than I worry about lighting when I'm in the rain

Not me bro. I'm a pansy around lightning. I remember reading about this chick in NJ a couple years back who got married and was running to her car before the reception and got hit by lightning and died.

I can sort of see a shark coming at times and would have a chance at fighting it off. Lightning is completely unpredictable and unforgiving. Yes, some people may live through a strike but I'm not taking that chance.
