I respect you're music taste and opinions. Zaz shows that you know a lot about quality music, in first place. But we shouldn't underestimate American pop(or music), my friend. You can find hundreds of gems in it. The very opposite, you can't find easily a thing which is free of it yet popular at the same time. I.e. I still can't hear dominant asian music in those samples, yes they're korean or they look like or scream asian, but that music itself is nothing different than the music of this age of all over the world; american.
Anyway I liked the first song (the slow one), it's easy and grows on the mind. But to be honest it's not even close to my actual music taste, still, like I said, I liked it. I normally listen to every kind of thing, at least just on behalf of learning(musical wise). From outkast to to the deadliest metal from western or north-west europe, from crappy turkish pop to the old ottoman classical music, from country music or gospels to the western classics, my musical pursuit is unnecessarily wide. Because I know that the %90 of all the music is already like shi*. The rest of it is the thing what makes music worthy to spend time with. It's not about the country or genre, nor the people who make it, it's all about finding the gems, to me.
