What's new

Last good song you listened to?

Anyway...

So, the last un-****ing-believable music that I've listened to was yesterday at this outside cafe. Two bands to be exact. Both by way of Salt Lake City. JP Orchestra and The Red Bennies. Maybe some of you have heard of them. I know The Red Bennies used to play regularly at the now defunct Burt's Tiki Lounge. The front men for the bands are brothers.

Anyway, JPO blew me the **** away. I don't even know how to describe their sound...I mean, it's a mixture of No Wave, Funk, Rock, Free Jazz. I don't know what else.

Don't know where I found this but it is pretty good.

This lady is Spain's best kept treasure. A never before seen talent in my home country. This is called 'cante flamenco', and a song is never performed the same way twice, determined by what the singer feels every second.

So she has jumped the shark then. Every single song is about bad relationships. Yawn.

It's not about her, dumb ***. It's about Kendrick's gritty style killing the song with lyrical quality and resonance that fits perfectly into some random song.

am I doing this song critique thing right, log?

I used to really like Mr A to Z, but the more I listened the more I realized his lyrics suffer a lot from "look how fast I can talk"-itis. He fills in with small words that don't always fit well with the other lyrics just so he has a lot of syllables to say really fast. Or he uses awkward phrasing to say something so he can say it fast and cool. It really grated so I dropped him from my rotation. Otherwise I like his grooves usually.
