Last Nights Officiating

I didn't have any complaints with the officiating. Jazz just laid an egg IMHO.
Simply put. Portland made way more plays. They were on fire l, and the Jazz couldn't throw the ball in the ocean. The only reason it was close most the game was we were taking care of the ball and forcing lots of turnovers. Portland made tough shot after tough shot.

On a side note. It really hurt watching CJ kill us. He was who I wanted the Jazz to draft and he was there for the taking. He'd have solved some of our shooting woes and is turning into a fine player
In basically every game this season the Jazz have been the less aggressive team. When that happens you usually don't get calls.

I've noticed this and thought this very thing while watching the game. Burks proved that himself. He got into his ultra aggressive mode and was gifted quite a few calls himself.

I concur that the refs in this game and the Pacer's game looked really sloppy. There was a foul on Burks where Gobert blocked a shot. The thing that pissed me off is that the Gobert was positioned directly between the ref and the "foul" which they showed 2 times on the replay and I couldn't see contact. It was the absolute worst angle to make the call. There was a fast break where Plumlee jumped left and got a foul as Gobert blocked the heck out of his shot. I thought there were plenty of plays that were similar to that. I can't say they were the reason we lost, but the reffing looked more like the MLS than the typical NBA quality.

The one bright spot from this game is that the Jazz are getting better at not making dumb turnovers so effing often. There is a noticeable improvement. Unfortunately We are not getting assists. Think the Jazz had 9 the entire game last night. Think the two pg's had a combined total of 1 assist. It is nice to see Burke shooting better so far.

Hard to get assists when nobody is making shots.

I don't think it was dirty. It's how one naturally stops on a dime. They plant with their leg out, not straight up and down. Play a sport for once you clowns.

It was a bit reckless, because he wasn't challenging the play at all and was so late, but it wasn't dirty. Payback for the CJ foul on Hayward in Preseason?

Booker has been awful and Lyles needs to be in Idaho. I smell a trade coming.

I did think the officials were terrible last night, but it went both ways. Just no consistency it seems.

I thought the refs called the first half mightily in the favor of portland and then tried to do some making up for in the second half and gave the jazz allot of calls

I've seen this same statement multiple times. The Jazz are LAST in potential assists at 34.8 a game. The next lowest is the Pistons at 37 a game.

Two of the slowest paced teams in the NBA. "Per game" stats are stupid when the Jazz play so much slower than everyone else. Of course their "per game" numbers will look awful!

You're exactly right. Adjusted for pace, Jazz still last at 37.87% possessions with a potential assist

That didn't look dirty at all. I've seen that in pretty much every game. It looked like a lazy block attempt on Booker's part, but nothing dirty at all. I didn't see any comments or here much outrage from Blazers fans about it either (granted, I haven't looked all that hard either, though a google news search showed up nothing other than a couple people saying Booker should have been called for a foul).

Seems to me. Every time the Jazz face one of the NBA refs who has a slick back "mafia" haircut. The calls are always terribly inconsistent. Tim Donahey wasn't the only ref who is crooked.
