I think that if we had gotten the #1 or 2 pick, we could have gone in to win now mode, in which case they would have been perfect.
This off season has shown that if you wanted a player like Collins/Sexton, you could pretty much get them for free. I get the idea behind the quick pivot, but realistically Lauri was the only hard one to replace and you could argue it's not really that difficult to get a player of Lauri's caliber on the trade market. Players at the borderline all star level are always available.
There was really no "need" to hard pivot into win now mode had we won the lottery anyways. Keeping Lauri only made sense if we had lotto luck, and you could argue that even if we had lotto luck trading him+others was a stronger position.
DA era was a pretty big failure marked by indecision + greed.
