Well, I guess I can't sit around on my *** not doing anything all day long like I thought I would be able to.

I opened up another office in December. Now I sit on my *** recleaning the same rooms over and over waiting for someone to come visit me. ha ha.

I've done an office that I hope will do a lot of low income work. I take medicaid and PCN here in Utah and hope to give the people of Ogden a cheap, high quality option for their mouths. I expect to do a lot of extractions and dentures.

Really low overhead, so my profit margins are higher, so I can afford to do stuff for a lot cheaper than a lot of the other offices around.

I'm excited. I might actually be of some worth for once in my life.

I've always wondered....do the people that own those mass scale clinics/schools make out pretty well? How about just the dentists that work in places like that? Where do you think their incomes fall on the typical dentist scale? I was shocked how many people were jammed into one around here when I went to one a few years back to get some quick X-rays. They didn't waste space in that warehouse-ish building, that's for sure. It was like being in a Chinese transporation hub or something in there.

It's all over the place. It all depends on debt load and billing efficiency. Dentists make anywhere from $70,000 to the sky is the limit. I've worked with large corps with amazing offices that churn through patients that can barely make payroll every couple of weeks and small, ratty hole in the walls that make ungodly amounts of money. BUT, due to a ton of factors, salaries are dropping and dropping fast. Dentists need to reinvent themselves and how they do business before we all get swallowed up by hospitals.

I started flossing regularly and it makes a big difference. I use this thing

and I like using it more than any other flosser I've tried. You just kind of line it up between your teeth then push it through by biting down on it.

Hey Green, thanks man, so the story is as follows.


So I've never had many issues with my teeth if at all. Never had any cavity or problems with wisdom teeth neither. Admittedly I'm not a flosser, just never liked it much. Always have my teeth checked and all I've ever needed was just a quick clean, etc. About 4 years ago we went to an Italian restaurant and we ordered a plate of prosciutto and melon and pizzas. When biting into the prosciutto with the left side of my mouth I felt a sharp split second pain in my bottom back molar (not the last one, it's about 3rd from the back). I didn't know what it was but I initially thought it was caused by the suction of the air between the valley(?) of the molar and the prosciutto? It stung quite a bit but I didn't think much of it.


About 2-3 years ago I experienced the same sharp split second pain when eating certain things (usually hard & small cuts of vegetables) in that same bottom left molar area and so I went to see a dentist. He had a look and did the whole analysis and even did an x-ray of my teeth and didn't find anything wrong.


About 3-4 months ago the pain came back again in that same area, sharp pain when bitting into hard & small cuts of vegetables. To prevent the pain I starting chewing with my right side instead, and a month ago the pain in the left side seem to have gone away somewhat.


I've talked to 2-3 different dentists over the years whenever I had my teeth cleaned and all they ever said was I must have bitten things in a weird angle causing the sharp pain, and never found anything wrong, nothing to worry about.


What do you think Green, do you think there's anything to be concerned about? Why are all dentists keep saying I don't have any problem but these sharp pain keeps persisting? I want to trust them but the pain seems to still come and go ...

Man I have had some bad luck with dentists lately. Also have developed TMJ issues. Sucks.

Life is good though. I sold a house last month, made some money. Now o have the opportunity to build two custom homes this spring for a guy I met last month. I'm in the process of getting a general contractor license in Idaho, and getting all set up to build some homes. It's a real big change, but I'm really excited.

The hygienist was telling me about this as I have a hard time holding small things like floss and picks. I'll have to find one.

That's what I use as well. I hate the floss-in-a-box, but this type works well for me.

What is most likely happening is that your tooth has a crack in it. When you bite down on it just right, it flexes the crack, which causes pain. Do you have a large filling in the tooth?

Dentists are interesting folk. Here in Utah, dentists diagnose everything under the sun. I've never seen so much ****ty work done on teeth that you could argue didn't even need any work in the first place. There is one guy in Utah that would root canal every tooth that had a large filling in it. His argument was, "well, it will probably need a root canal in the future so might as well do it now." I kid you not. In the northwest...I'm embarrassed to call myself a dentist up there, their work is so beautiful. Their **** lasts forever.

Anyways, back to the crack. You are overseas, correct? Here in the US, we'd run a tooth sleuth test and if we could find the crack and/or replicate the symptoms, we'd most likely do a crown. I do know that dentists are a lot more conservative overseas than here in the US.
