What's new

Life - official thread

We took a step back/break from trying to name the project. Felt we were trying too hard and we aren't in much of a rush.

I'd be much more help if I spent some time out near it.

...that's not exactly an offer... heh... but it's likely that I'll be out that direction at some point in the next 5 to 9 months.

We moved into a 90s Fixer Upper almost 3 years ago and there have been a lot of house renovation projects for us.

I also just potty trained the last child (#4) definitely happy and sad.

So ready for school to start.

Give me a heads up and I will take you on a quick tour.

LOL, 1890's or 1990's?

Ours is an 1893 Victorian, I'm sure yours probably has circuit breakers and electrical in conduit, not knob and tube and old fashioned fuses like ours did! We replaced that before we even moved in. Now after 32 years, we're redoing some of the stuff we did back then. Never ends...

I'm getting a disabled license plate today. It's a weird feeling.

My Friday so far:

My son wakes me up at 3 am. I am so freaking tired I take him to his room and fall asleep on the floor. Wake up at 7:14. I wake up at 7:20 every morning (except Fridays). I'm kinda pissed because I wish I could have slept until my alarm goes off at 7:20.

Then I snap up, wide awake when I realize it is Friday. I'm supposed to wake up at 5:45 on Fridays because I start work at 7:00. I live in Ogden and work in West Valley.

Get to work at 8:25. 1 hour 1/2 late. Nice. Do two hours of work in about 20 mins. Actually get right back on schedule for 9 am. Not too shabby.

My wife and I have had 1 car for about 6 years. I've always lived close enough to work to walk, so we've only had one car. Well, that's not the case anymore. I live in Ogden, work in West Valley, Ogden and Saratoga Springs. My poor wife has been housebound for about 3 months. I think she may be plotting to kill me.

So, after work I am going to go buy a car. 2013 Camry. Nice, reliable, family car that fits all the kids. So....Life, right? This is what we wanted when we were 14 and wanted nothing more than to grow up....

ha ha.

August is going to be fairly busy for me.

First, I have to submit my beers for the Beehive Brew Off by the 13th. I will be submitting 8 beers in 10 categories (two beers will be entered into more than one category).

Pistol Porter category 13C English Porter

Third Cousin category 14C Scottish Export

YES category 11C Strong Bitter and 17A British Strong Ale

Worker Bee Bitter category 11A Ordinary Bitter

Bitter Exit category 11B Best Bitter

Stormborn category 12A British Golden Ale

Underway IPA category 12C English IPA

Bounty Hunter category 21B-Rye Rye IPA 22B American Strong Ale

The judging will take place the 20th and 21st with the awards ceremony on the night of the 21st at The Bayou (mini-meetup?). I'll be stewarding again this year.

I'm hosting the 4th game of the 2016 Summer Poker League on the 13th. I think everyone in the league, all eight of us, will be there for the first time.

On the 27th I'll be at this year's Utah Beer Festival. Sounds like they've made significant improvement over what they did last year. They'll have RFID wristbands that will hold all your "tokens" electronically which should speed up the lines and eliminate having to stand in the line to buy more tickets. Being at the Utah State Fair Grounds will hopefully provide more opportunities for shade and they've said there will be many more food options than in previous years. (mini-meetup?)

So, bought the car. It's nice. Weird having my own car. It's been awhile.
I'm in a similar situatioll.. lol.. have been driving the company van for 6 years with advertising stickers on it.. lol... that's dedication I guess..

Would love to have my own car one day too but the 'want' doesn't quite outweigh the 'need' right now... just won't use it often enough working 6 days a week from home.

I think I know one source of your lady problems.
