Likely Rebuild Timeline / Strategy

He did not.

I guess you didn't watch the games? Collin is at his best when he plays within himself, under control, and remembers the team concept. He was able to do that for a while and looked like a winning player, but it's been rare in his career. That's why there's no market for him. Nobody needs a 6'1'' SG who regularly goes buck wild and only sees the basket. There might be some interest for Sexton if he proved that he's able to play off the bench and not cross the fine line between offensive aggression and recklessness... but I'm not holding my breath. He's pretty much a known quantity around the league.
Ya last season was the best year of his career. When he was a starter.

I guess you didn't watch the games.

I remember taking heat for the raffle tickets comment. This is the least engaged I’ve been as a fan. Ever. I was more invested in 2004-2006 on my mission, when I’d get to peruse Jazz news on JFC for a half hour at a public library once a week.

Oh man...the memories lol. Calling first round draft picks from extremely good teams "raffle tickets" was a war crime.

There are 2 thoughts I have first is about the young players we have.

George has been just awful this season. Personally I believe he is trying to hard. I think he is playing out of position. He just doesn't run the team. I think he is thinking too much. I am not panicking with him but it is concerning.

Kessler has been very good defensively. That is what we need him for. I am concerned in year 3 he has not developed more of an offense ut I will take his defense.

Hendricks was playing very good defense before his accident. He could be a legit 3 & D. I will limit judgement until the second year after he returns. He could be a legit piece.

Williams has just looked awful. He is thinking too much and not playing naturally. Until he gains strength he will not amount to anything.

Collier could be a nice find if he can learn to control his turn overs. His shot is hit or miss at this point. Been injured so no judgements yet.

Filipowski I like what he brings but there are also a lot of holes in his game. What can you expect.from a second round pick. Still feel he could be a steal.

Sexton I wish I knew if he was in the plans for the team or what.

Sure the Jazz are bad but I want to see if there is development.

I'm guessing the rebuild over next few years is the following-
  • Embrace full tank over next two seasons to secure two top-four draft picks.
  • Focus on player development to ensure our young guys today turn into solid role players
  • Maintain cap flexibility to acquire disgruntled superstars by 2026 season
Once you go full tank, as the Jazz now have done, there is no longer a timeline. The timeline is "whenever we get lucky". You can't stop tanking before you get lucky and getting lucky is based on... luck.

If the Jazz pick Noa Essengue with the 7th pick, a year from now they're exactly where they are now, not any closer to anything.

Also, you can't "embrace full tank" & "focus on player development". Sure, you can give unlimited free minutes to rookies, but that doesn't equal development. One player might develop, be able to concentrate on doing things the right way, learning from their mistakes. Much more probable that players pick up bad habits, don't care and play pretty much the way we've seen this season so far.

Getting a superstar to the Jazz? Quite unlikely last year, almost impossible now. A frisky young team with Markkanen and other pieces to trade vs. full-on tire-fire tanking team. Seriously doubt that Ainge or anybody would be able to acquire a superstar before (and if) they get very lucky first.

No timeline for me as it mostly depends on who you draft. We are lucky and draft a game changer and we can become good faster than we think. We are not lucky at the draft and ended being mediocre for years. Draft high the next 2 drafts ( Tatum_Brown style) and with Lauri , Kessler, Sexton, we are a contender. Time will tell.
