Oh, I hurt Cy's little feelings as he told me to "shut up" in a neg rep comment. I thought the purpose of a board was to voice our opinions. I've lived in other media markets, including the biggest in both LA and NY. Independent journalists are much more vocal with their opinions in other cities. Locke is a company man. He has to be. Just like any of us cannot openly criticize our employers in public media or we'll find ourselves either unemployed, reprimanded or facing other repercussions. So yes, I DO believe Locke has to temper his opinions if they run contrary to the company line.
As for the post above, yes, you are correct CY. If you keep 6 and 5, whichever way you slice the bigs/wings, you do run the risk of being undermanned. However:
1. With the bigs, Pleiss has never played in the NBA and Lyles is incredibly raw, even for a rookie. We saw that in SL. So I think you have to take that into consideration.
2. With the wings, if they go with 5 and the fifth is Millsap or Johnson, ALL five have played considerable time in the league.
3. Be honest about the phrase "keep 4 PG's." One of those four is unlikely to see the court this season. If he does, it will be late in the season for very short periods of time.
Essentially, the Jazz have 14 roster spots and one player on "injured reserve" who will count against the roster limit even though he can't play. Of the other three PG's on the roster, one has never played in the league, one was a late addition from the DLeague last season and the third hasn't yet shown he can shoot at the NBA level. Strike that, he can shoot - and certainly does at an ALARMING rate - he just hasn't shown he can "make" at an acceptable level.
And yes, I'm posting my opinions and won't "shut up." Last I checked, I paid to be a premium member and am allowed to do so, even IF an ******* like you thinks otherwise.
