What's new

Locke's endless apologies for Hayward.

Most of the people that are against Hayward right now are the people who were strongly against Hayward in his rookie year.

Haters resurfacing in hopes of making their original prediction come true.

Billy, you should stop caring about what Locke says, like every other Jazz fan.

Once again, for the record, I am a David Locke fan, and from what I can tell, there are a lot of us. He can be annoying and headstrong at times, but who isn't? The level of work he puts into providing fans with online and audio/video content on the home team is probably nearly unparalleled in the league. As good as Hotrod was with play by play (and I concede he is better than Locke), he would never have done all the other things Locke is doing.

Plus, in my opinion, Locke has far more insight into the league and into the Jazz than any poster on the board, and it's not even remotely close.

Me thinks thou doest project too much.

Thanks to Locke's objective research today, we now know that, over the last 10 games, Hayward is shooting 45% from midrange. And that percentage, in a 10 game sample, of course, is elite.

Did he also mension that Gordon took more mid-range jumpers than shots in the restricted area?
Did he also mension that he is shooting 17% from downtown?
Did he also mension that he is 1 for 8 from corner threes?

I like Gordon and what he brings to the table but Herr Locke is hyping some players and the coaching staff and does not give a damn about others. I appreciate what he is doing but his subjectivity is nuts!

He actually did mention how horrible Hayward's been from 3 point land. That was his point. Maybe quit launching the 3 and take a couple of steps in.

The problem is he is "elite" from mid-range for 10 games now but his whole pro career his mid range game was average. Do we think those 10 games are more meaningful than his whole NBA carrer? So should he take long twos just because he made some for a couple of games?

Maybe Hayward doesn't really love this game, and he's only in it for the money? Some players are like that...Boozer, Amaechi, etc. If you don't truly love your job, of course you're not going to put in the extra effort and give a 110%.

Doubt it. Hayward is just going through things he has never had to deal with: prolonged slump, being on a terrible team. He dreamt of being a MAX player and has been shown his limitations. And whether we believe fish's source or not, there would be a natural tendency for Gordon to compare himself to Paul George just because of draft position. And with George playing in Indiana and Hayward from there, yes, the success of the Pacers and struggles of Utah are undoubtedly an added source of distress.

Jazz are benefitting from his poor play this year. Were he just shooting like last season, Utah would likely have 6-7 more wins and we'd be discussing who the Jazz might get with the 13th pick in the draft. Not to mention his price has likely come down to whatever the Jazz offered him this summer.
