What's new

Lockout!!!

Can't see the rank and file players passing on the latest offer. If they do, they're certainly brainwashed.
Problem is...and correct me if I'm wrong...don't the reps from each team have to decide to put it before the rest of the players? And the team reps, since they are amongst the higher-paid and longer-tenured players on their respective teams would be hardliners and more allied with their agents, who are pushing for a no vote and the threat of decertification.

I'd love to see that happen, just so guys like LeBron, etc. would have their contracts torn up. Then let's see what happens when new restrictions are put in place. These idiots are set to lose tens of millions of dollars.

You guys complaining about the players not reading the deal, you might be interested in knowing that most congressmen don't read the laws they vote on either.
And sometimes there's a vote (e.g. healthcare) BEFORE the bill is even written in any form. Generally, congressmen at least get a summary and can have their aides look into particular details if there are questions. But the attitude seems to be...hey, who cares what the final version will be; you can just trust us on the details.

With NBA commissioner David Stern claiming the owners are done negotiating and threatening to drastically worsen their offer if it is not accepted by the players, Monday's meeting will likely determine the fate of the 2011-12 season.

When reached on Saturday night, however, Hunter told SI.com that his intention was to have the player representatives vote on a revised version of the NBA's latest proposal before moving forward.

"We will vote on the NBA's proposal," Hunter wrote in a text message. "The proposal will be presented with some proposed amendments."

So they're not going to vote on the deal offered, but instead vote on a revised deal that hasn't been offered. At this point, I'm starting to root for the players to ****ing crash and burn. I'm still hoping for a season, but only so Utah doesn't get screwed on their draft picks.

Do you think the Jazz' draft picks could benefit from the lost season?

...I guess no one really knows, and being a jazz fan we tend to think we'll get screwed. But maybe not. I know an option talked about was a lottery using the same records from last season. Another option was include the entire league in the draft and average out everybody's last three seasons to decide a teams' odds of winning the draft. If the league wants parity though, it would look bad to have a team like the Lakers or the Heat win a spot in the lottery.
