Holy hell this planet is littered with dumb individuals. Assuming there is alien life, do we think other life forms have the same problem?

Is this a serious question? If so, yes. Any ecosystem that manages to evolve intelligence of our level will have similar variance in behavior, if we assume that consciousness is an emergent property of intelligence. It is the price of complexity. It is possible, however, that self-awareness is a unique mechanism that does not have to go along with flexible problem solving paradigms, in which case intelligent life forms elsewhere would not possess such idiosyncrasies. But I digress. I am sure the question is rhetorical.
