You guys fail to get it. I type something that seems socially and morally reprehensible to you and you don't see that (1) this isn't some authentic message from my soul, and (2) that I'm merely commenting on the social and moral standard that the likes of Trout thinks he has complete ownership of; that he feels he never trespasses when he flippantly and arrogantly paints the world his color. If I were to tell you that Trout has offended me many times you'd probably tell me to get a life -- and thus make yourself triumphant. If I were to push Trout's arrogance further (as I've done) you say that I've gone on "tilt" or try to stereotype/medicalize me -- and thus make yourself triumphant once again.
This is my whole point -- all that SENSE that I make -- is that you are actually moralizing with these little crescendos and motifs that make you triumphant. Calling me names..... I want to entice this because I think it is ********. I jump into the ring when I see fools like you drawing lines in the sand on a BLOODY MESSAGE BOARD. This place would be far freer place without the likes of you. I am a mirror of your own fascisms.

I'm not taking sides here, but that's pretty self-serving logic.
As a party unattached to either side of this issue, I see it this way; you disagree, and there is little to no chance of that changing.

It's not that I cannot see your point. I just think you're taking things a bit too serious. Trout is probably a pretty nice guy for a hermo. No. What I'm saying is that I wrote an intentionally obscure(ish) post so that Marcus, Trout, and CONAN would have to stop their rolls and try to understand somebody expressing a point that they didn't agree with which contained more than two or three nuances. If there has been a single problem with this interaction it is that they refuse to do that. Picture them reading the post in question, and be honest: is there any way they were reading that for any other reason except for a place to drive-in their wedge, insert their own claims, and discredit me? I think those kinds of interactions are fascinating, and I usually jump in hot water around here intentionally... when there is an interaction that is already moving that direction. In a sense, I like to see these dramas unfold. I mean, how old can Marcus be? 30s? 20s, even? And despite that youth how often do you get the sense that he carries with him into every interaction a finished and dogmatic set of beliefs, ready-made!? Castrated living.
You could say I'm taking this too seriously. You could also call it research since I spend a good bit of my professional life tip-toeing around people of similar impenetrability. You could also see that I sorta enjoy this. Perhaps the claim (by jazzman12) that I'm taking this too seriously is just one of the latest iterations of putting me in my place?
How many guys do you think actually control the culture of this place? 6? less? It'd be nice if there was less banal thinking, in general, around here (by they way, if you find that last statement offensive you should count yourself in the total).
