What's new

Longest Thread Ever

My belief is the church has not yet been raptured, but will be just prior to the tribulation period.
7yr peace agreement with Israel.
The temple re-built.
Rise of the anti-chirst.
The emergence of the two witnesses on the streets of Jerusalem.
The anti-christ aking a seat in God's temple.
The mark...

Etc, etc...

I plan to go in the rapture. I am also prepared (in an earthly sense) to ride out the 7 years.

Thanks for all the conversation. I'll be around here and there

Thank you for the good discussions in here. . . . you're welcome to hang around when you can. I make it to St. George sometimes, and my kids like little hikes and stuff outdoors. Any chance we can visit some of the digs and learn what you've found?

Growing up in St. George, I heard some stories, Mormon/Shivwit legends to the point that Jesus came and taught some folks long ago on a little knoll called Shinob Kibe just southeat of Washington, by my grandpa's farm. . .

My mom grew up in Oveton, NV where there is a little museum called "The Lost City".

I remember finding little places in the hills, around little seeps and springs, where there were a lot of shards and arrowheads. I thought the Indians had camped around those spots a lot. . . . I bet there was a significant native snowbird element to the native way of life. . . . And while it was perhaps a fringe area for the Anasazi, I thought that culture did extend to the Virgin River and the Overton area. . . .

Of course.. any time.

Yeah, the Lost City is quite impressive and perplexing as to why such large numbers there. I don't even have a theory.

I'm not really quite in on the "rapture". . . . yes, there will be some event like that, what with the graves being opened and all the Saints coming out and such. . . . . and yes there will be some tribulations. . . .

I sorta wonder if we don't have something of "The Mark", and "The Anti-Christ" already. . . . no doubt you are looking for a temple in Jerusalem, not Salt Lake, on that issue. . . . and no doubt you consider "the church" to be not particularly a specific little cult outfit with some megalomaniacal authoritarian leader, but the net sum of folks who trust in Jesus in their hearts and love Him.

I don't know if I should just go to Jerusalem and start explaining things to the people there. . . . I claim to be a male-descent Jew, but the law in Israel requires a matrilineal line to satisfy immigration requirements. I have a friend from some years ago who lives in Israel and who qualifies on that line. . . .
When I went to Israel years ago, with him. . . . the airplane we were in had some problems with the hydraulic controls for the wheels. The pilot announced the difficulty and stated we were going back to New York after dumping the excess fuel, but he didn't know if the wheels would work. . . . . It was a 747 with a lot old Jewish men on board. . . . I had the distinct sense that they prayed us down safely. . . . but the runway was lined with fire engines and ambulances just the same.

Nah, I don't think it's my place to go to Jerusalem. Hope not. But Israel has some political associations that aren't all that wholesome. . . . .

I don't believe there is anything in play for the mark as yet sans perhaps birthing pains/signs of it coming. The Bible is clear (very) that we will know without any doubt that we are taking the mark and what that means to us long term. The Bible is clear that we will not unknowingly take it or be duped into the same.

Yes, you have that 2nd part right, in describing my belief.

Agree. I want to go to the holy land for some awesome biblical archaeology.. a dream of mine.
^kinda biffed my quoted messages there. Rusty already.

water.

sun.

warm in the winter.

good for corn and squash.

Las Vegas was a broad grassland, the translation is "meadows", but not as reliable as the Colorado/Virgin/Muddy conjunction. It would have been a trade center as well. . . . the conjunction of the Colorado Plateau, the Great Basin, and the Sonora/SoCal.

It was, in a word, all that Vegas is for us???? uhhh. . . . maybe no mob and no slots.. . .no sluts.

Looks like EJ has upstaged me on the whole evil empire theme.

Look, anybody who thinks they know everything the Devil has done. . . . . are gonna find out there's more to it.

I don't think we even need a devil to account for man's inhumanity to man. We will do everything the devil can do, on our own. All it takes is stupidity, really...... that's gotta be worse than the devil.

But even worse than that is the whole idea we are so prone to. . . . our vain imagination that we know enough. . . . and that we have the right to do what we want. . . . or that we are honorable enough to just do what we think is right.

About the only thing I really have any hope in, besides God, is the folks who recognize the need for second thoughts, for humility, and for preserving individual choice, individual happiness, and individual rights. . . . in contraposition to looking for the honchos to rule the village. . . . global or local.

Any ideas on who this anti-Christ will be?

Mormon
Muslim (12th Imam)
Protestant Christian
Catholic
Jew
Unaffiliated Politician

Also do Christ and Anti-Christ occur simultaneously?

UFO inclusion is kinda off...

If you know they're aliens and who they work for, that's not "unidentified" anything. . . .

Actually, when I look at anyone's crude scenarios of the history of the world/mankind/the universe, even mine, I suspect it's gonna be "way off" and expect it to be "way out there". Not just with megahistory, but megascience and megatheology as well. Sci-Fi is only "reasonable" because we know the author is making it all up, ha ha. But serious lit and serious cosmologies are just whacked because, first of all, the authors are seriously deluded somehow in thinking they know what they're talking about, and they just don't see how they're "making it all up".

Mormons used to have a pretty concise explanation of it all, but since oh about a hundred years ago, or at least since Heber J. Grant and James E. Talmadge signed the LDS up with the WCC, the authorized world religion that will officially mesmerize and bedazzle the masses in the New World Order, it hasn't been tolerated by the authorities. Since the sixties, the LDS Church "correlation committee" has been carefully grooming the Church membership to follow the manuals in the classes and accept a sort of "living oracles" idea much like progressive lawyers have pushed "administrative law" under a "living Constitution" which only means what authorities say it means, and puts us all under progressive management imperatives, without recourse.

So, no kiddies, it's no longer fashionable or trendy to "out" the other religion as the work of the Devil, especially since the Catholics, Mormons, Muslims, Protestants and some other big players have signed up with the WCC. Under the newspeak, all religions are valid if they are what makes you feel good, just like the new math will smile at you-all no matter what the answer may be that you prefer. You should be validated at all costs. No one should contradict you or make you feel bad. You are the new God.

So I can keep attending the Holy Temple of 31 Flavors? I am so relieved.

If you insist on paying top dollar for sugar and food coloring and artificial flavors, I suppose you can. Actually, I go to Baskin-Robbins once in a while, but mostly I'm a glutton and a miser. I want the cheap, rot-gut ice cream like the party pails at Smiths. With one of those and a DVD to watch, I can zone and eat the whole bucket in one sitting. . . .

Good thing I have real work to do, too. . . . . keeps my weight in the zone. . . .

well, I guess it's time for a new page. . . . for my 4700th post, and for page 290. I don't know if I can sell 4335 posts in this thread as stupendous or stupefying or portentous or what. . . . another stepping stone to history. . . to the future, folks. . . .

And then it would look like. . . to the uninitiated passersby. . . . that I've done nothing but this. . . . .

but I need to hide this babble in oblivion before anyone notices it. . . . . nobody but nobody ever goes back to read past pages. . . . . it's like we've all lost our curiousity, or been mesmerized to the tune of "follow the living page" (current page) past pages are all dead, and only the present page can be read in public. . . .

ha ha. need I say that would illustrate the principles taught by some Christian churches. A bible a bible we have a bible we don't need any more bible. . . .

A college educated lecturer, sitting as Grand Inquisitor, checking our faith impulses daily to make sure we do not drift astray. . . . A committee of deacons or social scientists on alert for deviants. . . . .
