Not sure if this is the thread to discuss this but here goes..

2 girls to choose from.

# 1 is amazingly hot & sexy, but she's real quiet and seems arrogant from the outside & not that friendly. Not too bad once you get to know her though. But she'll always want to have it her way.

#2 is not hot/sexy, but she's sorta cute in a girl's next door kinda way. Friendly, willing to do almost anything for you to a certain level of reasonableness. She'll always think about the greater good and can be selfless to a fault.

Question is - from your World's wisdom - who would you choose to be your "life partner"? Not just a quick fling. If you go with #1 does it get tired trying to please her all the time? But if you go with #2, do you always regret not going for someone you're attracted to?

And don't say you can find someone who's both #1 AND #2.

She simply doesn't exist.

my sort of "wisdom" is just outta this world. Yah, you want someone who really is hot and sexy because unless she messes up your sense of reality she's gonna be giving you all kinds of unhappiness looking for some reason to think you actually care. I don't care if she's as ugly as a pig with lipstick, you'll have no peace until you're doing backflips to prove you're in love.

the danger with the girl next door who's just too nice to be real comes down basically to the fact that it's not real. And she'll always regret not having someone in her lovelife who doesn't really love her. . . .. unless you do.
 
Well I think your two scenarios left a bit too much room to answer it responsibly. How high maintenance is the hot sexy chick? Are you constantly worried about her cheating as part of the package deal? Does she love you truly unconditionally .. or are you just hoping you can appease her enough to stay?

Does the other, nicer girl, have looks enough to attract you and hold your attention? Enough so, that her other qualities make her someone you will adore for a lifetime? Will this girl see in your eyes that you find her beautiful?

Truth is, either of these two individuals may be the right girl.. or neither...

Remember this I said not too long ago? There are tons of women you could live with, but only one you can't live without.

When you meet this woman, you will certainly know.. and all the stereotypical nonsense and cliches will be gone with the wind.

Interestingly the Bachelor contestants usually consist of approx. 90% of #1 and 10% of #2.

But you know what? I've always found myself cheering for the 10% of #2 on the show - though there's usually a very small chance that they win.

It's almost always the girl who has a great heart, but obviously she's not as pretty or as hot as all the other girls.

OK, let's lay some groundwork here. I see that you're a genuine Jazz fan who's laid down some tracks walking the walk. Probably not a crying in his beer philosopher or another type of old fart who's got nothing but lost dreams. So here's how I'd like to frame this question:

everything exists in some context which is essentially an infinite network of circumstances in the real world, or an infinite neural network of connections within a human mind. Guys go to their strength by focus and drive to achieve a specific goal. Women tend to read the whole scene so to speak. In the mind of the woman, that "whole scene" is interpreted in terms of whether or not she matters to you in some way she considers important. If she has "looks" you got to notice them. If she has brains, you've got to notice them. If she is religious, you've got to love that in her.

The picture you paint of the choice between a girl you consider to be "hot" or "sexy" or "the nice girl next door", whatever your reason or motive, is going to be judged pretty much the same way by both girls.

The "hotty" is still going to be looking for all those clues about whether you love her in total.

The "girl next" door is still going to be looking for all those clues about whether you love her in total.

In real life, a guy is probably gonna bop over and drop some pick up line on the hotty to see if she will even tolerate the interest. Most guys will get some kinda simple, plain ignore. If you're a "hot" guy, the two of you will probably smile a lot, make some jokes, and laugh and get something going.

The guys who just get blown off by the hotties will probably one day meander over next door and just say "hi. . . . how ya doin'". If she thinks you're the nice boy next door who's sorta good looking and maybe mentally stable, she'll start talkin'. After a while you might be talkin' about every day, and doin' stuff together.

Whichever case it proves to be, life will still go on. Every day brings some new twist on what you each think. You'll start to have to make some adjustments for the sake of the friendship/relationship. How much you're willing to do for each other is what determines whether it will last or not.

So in the end, it all boils down to how much you care about the girl. And how much she cares about you.

Sometimes a little time will show you what you should really do.

And by the way. . . . with all kinds of "values" in the mix, physical appeal is not meaningless and does in fact matter. . . . but there is a sort of spread in how people will react to another's looks particularly in sexual attraction. And there is probably no woman that someone won't actually want. . . well, pretty much not very many. . . . There is some guy out there who is gonna think your nice girl next door is really hot.

I think the reason you ask this question reflects a capacity to think seriously about more things than just a woman's looks. By all means go talk to the most attractive women you run across. Someday you'll find one who will talk back and care just as much for you.

And all the same, go talk to the nice girls like the one next door too. Someday you will find one who just gets prettier every time you see her, because she's happy to see you.
 
This thread isnt just long.... Its deep. its feels like a safe zone on jazz fanz.. i bet if Collins was a jazz fan this is the thread that he would have openly expressed his gayness.. I am not being judgmental i am just saying this thread feels safe.

Btw, and on the topic of girls. I am here to say there is someone out there for everyone. girls need to feel wanted and loved. some just take a little longer to warm up to us guys. they have to feel we are safe befor the allow us into their lives. The girl in high school that I liked i ended up marrying 5 years later. crazy eh? We had gone on dates but never really dated.... when i left on my mission i honestly didnt even know she liked me.. while on my mission i wrote her dad and asked him if i could write his daughter. he said yes and gave me the address. My timing was perfect. she had just had a bad break up with a guy. And for here, To find out that some boy cared about her in texas was enough for her to date me when i got home. there is alot more to my story. but i guess the point i want to make is if you truly like a girl and it feels right pursue her a little bit.. girls love the chase... just not in the stalkerish sort of way.
