The most powerful song for me has always been "Cat's in the Cradle." Whenever I look back and reflect on perhaps some bad career choices I made, I remain eternally grateful that I was able to spend so much time with my daughter instead of leaving early, coming home after bedtime and only seeing her on the weekends. So many fathers either have to or choose to do that with their children. If you want to skip the commentary, go to 1:05.

I know what you mean...either by our own actions, or by those of our fathers or maybe even mothers. I try to listen to this song weekly, usually hear it at some point driving around. If not, I pull it up on youtube. It keeps me grounded.

For me.. I use it to look in the mirror and make sure I'm never too distracted from those that mean the most.

Here's another one that always brings a tear to my eyes (or several).

"And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter,
"And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying."
And he said: "Some day, I hope you get the chance,
"To live like you were dyin'."

He said "I was finally the husband,
"That most the time I wasn’t.
"And I became a friend a friend would like to have..."

Too long, didn't read:-)

that's why we need one-word posts in here. To serve the folks who find "gee, shucks" too complex a statement for comprehension. And why "tldnr" can help improve the flow of information to those who find actual words cumbersome.
