Looking for genuine discourse re: Donald Sterling/NBA

No it wouldn't have, people would not have cared. Even if it became a big news item it would have faded and been forgotten. Magic would still be rich and in business. Money speaks louder than fake moral outrage (speaking about the general public and not you specifically).

You're nuts. He could have faced legal issues for one thing. His wife would have divorced him and there is no way his kids would think much of him.

If your Dad cheated on your mom and infected you and your mother with HIV you would think it would just blow over?

For me personally? No. For society? Yes I do. They wouldn't give two damns about me and my problems. Especially long term.

Only way Magic would face criminal issues is if he slept with and infected them without their knowledge. Kicky can you provide insight here?

Also plenty of divorced people are in business and rich. His wife divorcing him would not have ended any and all business opportunities he had. He was already rich and famous at that point.

....I'm with you on this one! Plus, somehow, someway, he beat the HIV virus and continues to live on! His off the court life style was definitely pathetic and he dodged a bullet with the HIV probably because of the money he could spend on his treatment! By the way, seems like "Stoked" is pro-gay and a "sympathizer" to the cause....and he's a big time "moderator" on this board! Interesting.

I watched the interview and I don't know how you can watch him and not pity the guy. He seems like a clueless old man. They exist. Sterling isn't the only one, and we're all headed there eventually. So I think it's kinda dumb that everybody's all up in arms about what he says publicly or privately. V. Stiviano is no one I want to side with - listen to her on the tape. I agree with what Kareem said about it - that just listening to it he felt like a sleazy accomplice to the crime being committed (recording the conversation).
And the whole interview Anderson Cooper was coaxing Sterling for more incendiary sound bites. And Sterling's a clueless old man who rambles some not wise ****. But is that a crime? I don't know what the NBA constitution says but I would think the US Constitution trumps it. Sterling hasn't broken the law. Even if he admits he's a racist - he still hasn't broken the law. This whole thing is such huffy self-righteous ********.

Most clueless old men don't sue the **** out of everyone they have bad business deals with, and have history of paying the government to get off their back about race discrimination. Clueless old man? Maybe, but I see more of a dirty old bag of **** who didn't get some from V.Stivianwhore and was pissed about it.

Well, what you see and what I see is very similar. But is getting pissed about being teased and ****-blocked against the law?
Yeah, on the illegally recorded tape he sounded insecure and jealous of Magic Johnson, who Stiviano was posing with. It irritated him. And why? 'cause he's old and feels inadequate. His response was often focused on the color of Magic's skin (always guided back to this by Stiviano) but the racist stuff he said was in the jealous, unchecked heat of the moment provoked by Stiviano's incessant badgering. He's not bright. He's jealous. He's old. He said stuff in the heat of the moment - not realizing that it would be broadcast to the world. But his words here don't line up with his actions - the NAACP was about to give him his second lifetime achievement award. Also, just because people in the past have levied charges against you (of which you were found innocent) doesn't mean that you are, all of a sudden, guilty because everybody's swallowing the propaganda. Baylor had no case.

I don't love Sterling. Like he said of Magic, the guy's no example for the youth of L.A. either. I'm not defending him. I'm defending the rule of LAW. The mob is looking to overstep it.

Where are the lawyers to help me out here?

It shows the severity of the kind of life he was living. If he would have infected his family his life would have been over. He would not be the business mogul he is today. He would have been ostracized and seen as a monster.

as we learned from this debacle people don't care if you actually harmed people physically or bring them in direct physical danger.

people only care what you think and say in your private home..

so magic johnson, jason kid, crymello anthony = GOOD

sterling = EVIL!

Has he been charged with a crime?

The "mob" isn't taking his team. The other owners are forcing him to sell because he violated a contract he signed with them. He owns a franchise which means he does have a responsibility to the larger brand(NBA).
