Ok, you might have a point. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I'm sure you could argue it one way or the other. You're definitely right on the changes in the media and the reach of the story.

Both Sterling and Schott are *****.
 
Is his rant about racism or jealousy?

He hates minorities so much the mistress he is screwing is of mixed race?

He kept saying he didn't want her to flaunt other relationships in front of him, but it was okay in private.

I ain't defending the philandering pig, but I don't get why it is a gang bang worthy to tell the racially mixed mistress he is screwing not to flaunt her relationships with other men in public.

The way it sounded to me was he was concerned about how his contemporaries would feel about her behavior. Sounds like he thinks this is bad rep in his circle. Her hanging with black people apparently makes him look bad to his peers.

Nobody wanted to hear it then either. She was practically run out of town, in spite of massive charitable contributions to a couple hospitals and cultural institutions and barred from involvement in team operations, practically forced to sell her stake in the Reds.

But my point was that she freely made her comments in public. She did not have someone secretly taping a conversation and then selling it to the equivalent of the National Enquirer.

Agree that Sterling has "freedom of speech," However, he does not necessarily have freedom of consequences. If I were to spew what he said to a colleague at work, in a workplace that has many African Americans, I shouldn't necessarily expect that friend to hold everything in strictest confidence. Sterling isn't some redneck who owns a bar that caters to rednecks. He has bought an exclusive franchise which by it's nature comprises some 70-80% or so (fill in the correct percentage, I'm just approximating) of the very ethnicity he disparages.

Was he set up? Sure. This "lady" is a gold digger. She trades sex for fancy cars and an expensive condo. Sterling's estranged wife is trying to prevent any more outflow of cash (and she's not exactly a saint, either). The mistress sees the well is running dry and wants to squeeze out more cash and protect what she already has.

And poor Silver is caught between a rock and a hard place. Neither he nor the other owners have any authority to force Sterling to sell the team. Sterling is meeting the financial obligations; therefore the league cannot seize the Clippers. Most Silver can do is fine and suspend him ($1M limit IINM). And expect Sterling to sue in return. This mess has to be solved by sponsors, agents, players and fans. If all the sponsors cancel; if agents and players refuse to sign with the Clippers and those under contract demand trades; if corporations cancel their luxury boxes; if fans stop by tickets...then Sterling will be forced to sell.

I thought of that too, but that doesn't quite make sense either.

She is his mixed race mistress. If his "peers" were racist, why would her hanging with blacks hurt him with his peers more than screwing around with her?

His friends are obviously racist, and were giving him **** that his side piece was banging some black people. He's obviously paying her for sex, and companionship…so she's basically a hooker, and he thinks that he has the right to tell her what to do. He wasn't even mad that she was banging the black people, he was mad that she was posting about it.

This was all about jealousy/embarrassment for him. Is it despicable that he's racist? Absolutely. However, one of the only things more despicable is all of the people feigning outrage now, when it's been known that this dude has been a racist for years.
