Lottery Standings

What he asking about how the lottery itself works, though, or how the draft works for teams that are picking in the lottery positions (but not one of the top 3 spots)?

yeah, I didn't word that well. Sounds like a coin toss if Golden State ties with another team.

I'm speechless. How did the W's pull off the upset against Denver? I guess when a team starts Koufos at the 5, there's not much hope...even against the lowly Warriors.
And Sacramento lost too...double bonus!

And Brooke Lopez is out for the season.

Update?

Interesting playoff/lottery tweet from John Hollinger...

Why Suns fans are conflicted about Jazz games: Phoenix loses two-way tie with Denver ... but likely wins 3-way tie with Denver and Utah.

I'm happy with the W's win. It puts them in 9th with 2 more wins than the other teams and only 10 games to go.
They'd likely have to finish 2-9 or 1-10 to keep the pick at this point.

22 wins at this stage is huge. If GS adds one win, they might be OK. If they add two I don't think two teams will catch them. As of right now:

Detroit has to go 1-10 to tie, 2-9 to pass (assuming GS doesn't win again). That's likely and I still expect Detroit to win about 4 more and pass the Warriors.
Toronto 2-8 to tie, 3-7 to pass. Possible, but besides a home game against NJ, they don't have any real gimmes.
New Jersey 2-7 to tie, 3-6 to pass. Not a lot of gimmes on their schedule either, and they shut down Lopez apparently. I wonder how long before Deron mentally checks out of NJ.
Sacramento 3-7 to tie, 4-6 to pass. Road game at NO & Char and home against Hou & Port are their best opportunities, but they are far from automatic wins.
Cleveland 4-9 to tie, 5-8 to pass. Probably not going to happen.

Any additional wins by GS bumps those figures and makes it even harder for the others to catch them. Things are looking better with the Warriors winning 2 of their last 3.

The Warriors are actually a decent team. With a healthy Curry and Bogut they could be semi dangerous next season. But that's asking a lot for those two.

GS has to win at least two and TOR and DET have to lose their games, they have terrible schedule only 4 home games 2x SA LAL and rising NO this Denver win give us slim chance to draft early.

LET' S HAVE A HOPE JAZZFANZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

They only have to stay ahead of one if them.

But NJ and Sacramento are also very close. Either of those teams could pass GS.
Warriors need a couple more surprising wins. Unfortunately, their best bets are late in the schedule: vs. New Orleans and then the last one against SA (Spurs traditionally rest starters the last game if they have nothing to play for). But you know the W's would really tank those games if it meant a 7th seed vs. an 8th.

Yeah, right now Detroit is the biggest threat to pass GS as they are only one game back. I think they will pass GS, and will be rooting for them to beat Toronto later in the season. I think GS stays ahead of Sac with just one more win (they might not even need that). NJ and Toronto are the two I think we need to worry about as they are both 2 games back and have a few winnable games left. I'll be cheering for Cle to beat NJ today, and Detroit to beat Toronto later. As long as there are no surprise wins by any of these teams (beating teams with better records), GS will stay ahead of enough of them without any more wins.

Detroit is going to overtake Golden State for sure.

I'm not worried about Toronto, their schedule is brutal.

New Jersey is the team I most worry about, they have some winnable games, and could potentially tie up the Warriors.
