What's new

Lyles is the pick at 12

Gobert & Favors' weakness is they can't guard quicker 4's.
That is simply not true. Don't mistake being rim-protection addicts to being unable to guard the perimeter, they are both way ahead of the curve in that regard relative their size. If you're talking about them being exploited in small ball lineups (where they are forced to guard a non-big) then they should work their size advantage better or that will be the go-to strategy for opposing teams (their inability to punish the mismatch is their biggest weakness). I'm not sure Lyles really alters anything in the dynamic just discussed.

I don't know who Lyles' comp is*. I really can't think of one. But I'm okay with the pick. Like anyone else, I want to be in love with it, but I'm not, which is okay. I hope the Jazz work some magic on that shot as that will be a HUGE boon (maybe even a pre-requisite) to his effectiveness when considering his pre-existing skillset.

*with a gun to my head I'm going to say Odom

Yeah but Odom didn't start out like that neither did he? I still remember him when he was playing Center for the Miami Heat.

Odom had a great handle coming out of RI. You were probably a pre-teen then, so best to listen to others.

1) Only a bitch negs somebody just because they got negged first. Are you a bitch? Must be.

2) I negged you because this is an idiotic statement. Nobody is saying Lyles is a savior, or anything near that. I think most reasonable people realize he's going to be a 3rd big for us.

3) Indoor was supposed to be idiot, but my phone is an indoor.

4) You're still an idiot.

brutal, legalistic, etc.

Odom never was a Center. Odom has always been a swing player in a PF's body. His handle was amazing for someone his size. His shot sucked for years.

The comparison doesn't make sense.

If Channing Frye and Boris Diaw had a baby it would be Trey Lyles.

I think the clearest indication of the quality of this pick will be visible at the beginning of 2016's summer camp. If Lyles has obviously worked hard on his body, then I'll feel pretty good. If/When he's able to guard 4s, then this is a solid pick.

The more I look into it, the more I think he's going to be very good in the modern league. His role could be a lot like Boris Diaw with the Spurs--mobility, decision making, passing, scoring opportunistically. And he's big.

This is a good pick.

Im warming as well, but mainly because of the fact that he has not shown what he is capable of yet was talented enough to be a top 10 recruit. Has great measurables. He looked good in HS. Think he shave and they stop to call him Boozer. Maybe he is perfect fit as third?

Oh did I hurt your little feelings I'm sorry you must be supersensitive. I never neg for an opinion as I believe everyone should be able to say what they want unless it's a personal attack. But I do return negative rep with negative rep. Don't really care what you call me or what your opinion is of me. My rep level shows that I have plenty of respect from others on this board.
