I wanted Turner and Connaughton, but I think Lyles is a solid pick. Oubre could go either way, but I think Lyles will have a better career than Booker. Lyles is a better all-around player and offers versatility to the offense. If it's any consolation Indiana also had Turner and Lyles rated high than Booker.

At the time, kanter had way more upside and potential. (Which is why he was a top three pick and considered by some draft experts to be the #1 prospect in that draft)

There is no comparison at between the two except that they play basketball and are tall. The Boozer comparisons are very bizarre also.

So Kanter had a total of 140 assists in all of his 4.5 years here in Utah.

Thing I don't get is continuing to draft project bigs who at best you hope will be a serviceable backup when there are so many backup bigs who can be had for cheap. Let someone else develop them.

What we need is our own Kawhi/Butler/Klay. Take a chance because you're not going to sign one in free agency.

I'll be honest... I was very disappointed in last night's draft. We had a chance to grab an elite shooter with a high ceiling (clay Thompson is Booker's ceiling imo). Sure he can be a bust, but what is Lyles' ceiling, and what purpose would that serve the jazz? He's not going to be taking Favors' or Rudy's starting spots. I don't think the jazz needed to draft another project. Lyles isn't a stretch four, nor is he a great defender. With Booker, the jazz would have added an outside shooter which they desperately need. Not-great-at-anything, 6'10 tweener PFs are a dime a dozen in the nba, especially those who can't shoot. I see him as a very poor man's Tyrus Thomas. I love the jazz and really thought they had a great opportunity last night to take someone special.

Consider this. He was supposed to be a top 10 pick while playing at a position dominated by smaller, faster players while not even being featured on the team he was playing for. He did so without complaint and he has no ego issues. He's just confident as hell.

Say he was playing for the Utes at the 4. One wonders if he could have been a top 5 or 3 pick? Just a thought.

Made this point a few days ago. Not sure about top 3 but more like in the 6-9 or 10 range

My take was they wanted Kaminsky because he best fit the need for a stretch 4, but they took the best player left that fit what they thought Kaminsky would bring. And if you compare the two -- Lyles is only 19 and Kaminsky 22. At the same stage, Kaminsky averaged 2 points a game for Wisconsin. This is another player we're just going to have to wait and see if he was the right pick. But he seems to have great upside.

Not the best fit. Not better then Lyles who is more adept guarding on the perimeter we needed a small ball big.

I don't know who Lyles' comp is*. I really can't think of one. But I'm okay with the pick. Like anyone else, I want to be in love with it, but I'm not, which is okay. I hope the Jazz work some magic on that shot as that will be a HUGE boon (maybe even a pre-requisite) to his effectiveness when considering his pre-existing skillset.

I would expect an all round idiot like u to have this view. Lol at u thinking Bookers ceiling is Thompson. Booker can't defend isn't athletic and strictly a spot up shooter his ceiling is more Green from the Spurs with less defense.
