Marvin Williams is Injured... Again

Or, perhaps he does know the difference between complement and compliment, but since this is only a sports discussion board, he, and other posters, don't feel it's worth the time to scrupulously copy edit all their posts for typos, grammar, word usage, etc.. We all make typos and other errors when we're typing quickly, and while some of us take the time to consult the Oxford English Dictionary to make sure that all our posts are grammatically pure, others of us don't give a flying fetch and don't put a high priority on pleasing OCD grammar scolds :-)

To me, using correct grammar is a matter of politeness to your readers. Even on a sports message board. I realize others feel differently, but that's how I feel. So when people misuse a word like that they are either being ignorant or they are being impolite. Either way, my sig is only meant to be a gentle reminder, poking a little fun at them, rather than an in-their-face slam. Hopefully I've judged the tone properly.

yoyo knew about it, he used their and uncorrect in his post. Don't worry, it was dune in purpuse 2 git under the skin of coltun.

For all I know you knew this and are pretending as well. Hard to tell these days.

Hard too tell wut?

He also used "your" much uncorrectli.

Marvin Williams said his back feels "fine" today. He went through shootaround and expects to play tonight vs. Spurs.

Stupid Marvin. The fans don't want to see you start at the 4. Stop being selfish.

Coach Corbin said Marvin Williams might come off the bench, so the Jazz can use the size of Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors vs. big Spurs.

We shall see. We heard Corbin say he would start the C5 like 2 weeks ago, but when vets are healthy, he hasn't been able to bring himself to bench them.

Perhaps not, but he could certainly be part of a potential difference between LA, Boston or Sacramento. All yet to be determined.

Actually. with the way he has played vs. Enes (and RJ vs. Burks), having Jefferson and Williams play a lot of minutes HELPS the tank.

Just like Corbin said a couple of games ago that Clark and Thomas would get minutes because Utah needed to evaluate them. I guess he meant they'd get minutes on April 16th at Minnesota.

Over the last 10 games, the Jazz have 30 2-man lineup combos that have played 50+ minutes together. Among those 30 2-man combos, Kanter-Favors is dead last in +/- per 48.

The 3 bigman 2-player combos with 50+ minutes over the last 10 games:

Favs-Marv: 180 minutes, -1.1/48
Enes-Evans: 135 minutes, -6.4/48
Favs-Enes: 70 minutes, -18.9/48

I don't get everyone loves Kanter so much. He is clone of Boozer and Al. I never want him starting on this team, although I'd love him off the bench (which won't happen).

Also, thank you Colton for keeping some class in this world. It's pathetic how dumb we are these days.

To me, overlooking typos and understanding that busy people don't have a lot of time to devote to wordsmithing posts is a matter of politeness to posters. So when people misuse a word they are likely either in a rush and/or, understandably, don't prioritize careful copy editing of their posts. I'm willing to assume that most people who post here (Carolina Jazz excepted) are educated, reasonably intelligent people who know how to spell and have a college-level understanding of grammar and word choice/usage. I'm also willing to accept that many posters here don't prioritize satisfying grammar scolds over posting quickly and getting on with whatever else they are doing.

Usually, I have a visceral aversion to grammar scolds (many of whom correct grammar and spelling as a means to assert superiority or to belittle), but you are the exception. You are always well-mannered and a consistent voice of reason on this forum. I would never accuse you of bad will or being rude. I do, however, disagree with you on certain points, and this is one of them. But we can still be friends :-)
