Unpopular only because I don't believe mental illness is well accepted. The extensive premeditation will only reinforce the perception he was a sick, sadistic individual who was fully cognizant of his actions. I can be as skeptical as anyone, but in this case my instincts tell me we're looking at a guy who is a true anomaly -- a diseased mind, not a depraved one.
