Massive Shooting in Aurora (CO) Theater

I was thinking this could have been avoided if the emergency exits had alarms. But even then, everyone would have been outside and the shooter would have had an even bigger crowd to fire on, although he may not have been able to blind that big of a group with his tear gas. Maybe if someone carrying a concealed weapon had ignored the theater's policy the damage could have been mitigated. But the guy was pretty well decked out in protective gear. I just wish there was a way to prevent stuff like this from ever happening, even though there just isn't.

24 year old med student. Probably could have done some good in his life...

Looks kind of like an elf.

I'd be down with the court handing downa decision like this.

I am not against making an example of this guy. I am just against it being done by some other pissed off local. Let the system handle it. If they want to hand down throwing him in a lion pit, knife fight with 20 Bloods/Crips, feeding him to sharks...I'd be down.

sorry, but imho the system is broken

Michael Moore's documentary on screwed up gun laws, NRA etc. after the Columbine massacre is still very much relevant after all these years. Sad.
why doesn't something like this happen in Europe or elsewhere with the same frequency?

gun control wouldnt have stopped this.
about some time ago here in the netherlands a guy shot up a mall killed only six people.
but the gun control laws here are ridiculous.
and yet it happened. shooting of alphen aan de rijn search it.
then search the gunlaws for the netherlands

it's just stupid blaming "gun laws".
if some guys had guns in the theather, the guy would have been shot dead.

Oh, sorry. I was just taking a shot at ABC not you.

I'm pretty sure CBS did so as well as I watched the press conference held around noon and one of those guys was trying to make it seem like a tea partier. So stupid.

The Aurora Mayor and Colorado's Gov were smart though in the press conference. The gist of what they said was it's a horrible incident, but there is no need to overreact because it's one guy and one incident. A certain scumbag Mayor in NYC that tries to use everything for political gain, including this incident, should take note. We need more rational leaders and not reactionaries in this country.

Seems like a pretty smart dude.

I always find crazy people/serial killers really interesting.

Seems that way. Apparently he was in college to become a doctor. Neuropathy or something like that.

@ Duck - amen about more rational leaders.

Also, the fact that he set up his house with booby traps would lead me to believe he knew that it was going to be a 1 time thing. I'm surprised he didn't commit suicide after the act.
