Matt Harpring apprectiation thread

Harpring is terrible a majority of the time. Primarily because he thinks he is a lot more clever than he is and his feel attempts at levity fall flat 90% of the time. When he sticks to color and limits his jock riding of players like Harden, Durant and LeBron he is tolerable. I much prefer Boone to be honest.

Lived in multiple NBA cities and I travel a lot and hear other commentators. We have nothing to complain about. I take Boler and Matty over most I have heard.

Harp was terrible his first few years, due to trying too hard. Then he got better, but was kind of a shameless Homer. Now it seems like he's tried to listen to feedback and adjust his game, because he's pretty damn good anymore. He's up there with the best in the league IMO.

Agree in that Harpring has gotten much better since he started doing color. His jokes are mid-western AM Radio cornball circa 1970's but so what.

As far as how he compares to the rest - he's in a fraternity that includes 102 year old Tommy Heinson, Austin Carr and Sean Elliot - the bar can not get much lower.

I used to hate Bill Walton when he did the NBA but he is ****ing hilarious now that he is doin college ball. Crazy old hippie

Fans from other teams have noticed this as well. I remember people pointing out some comments about how they would love to have a commentator like Harpring for their team. He brings inside info to the table about the game that I find very interesting.

"...this isn't radio. Please."

Yeah he throws a Puhlease at the other dude like 3 times a game. It's hilarious. It seems like the other dude can't stand him.

"Nelson Mandela, Bob Dylan, Bill Russell, Thomas Edison, the light is on, throw it down Snoop Dogg!"
