To me this just seems to be grasping at straws for an answers. Portland hasn't played well so far and they are looking for something to jumpstart their season.

Not trying to step on JazzAvenues toes, but here are a few quotes I thought were funny from RealGM from Blazers fans.:
1- I hope beyond hope that he doesn't screw things up more and can add positive value to the team and put his ego aside.
2- Lol. Worst part is that I love it. We're already pretty bad. Wth, maybe we could use Melo.
And I'll never write off the power that Lillard haves to turn guys into our culture.
Just hope he comes off the bench
3- Have you seen the Blazers roster? They need him to start just out of desperation. I’ll take Melo over Tolliver. Neither is awesome. If nothing else, this is gonna be an awesome trainwreck and adds some interest to what was looking to be a snoozer of a season.
4- Putting a vet with an ego in a locker room full of young guys trying to make their imprint could screw things up more. But, I'll be optimistic and think that from a basketball perspective, Portland will be better.
5- I don't know about a dumpster fire. A disaster on a vet minimum salary is more like a garbage pale fire. I wonder if the deal is guaranteed. He might have to get past that January date before he gets his full pay. This whole thing might be a trial balloon.
6- This is the best team of 2013.
7- This is like having a famous model past her prime. 10 years from now, when Melo is inducted into the HOF. We can say, we had him.
8- Oh man this literally made me laugh out loud. Feels like something Whitsitt would do. I see this experiment lasting maybe 20 games. But if the Blazers were trying to get my attention... they just did.
9- Christ. I was doing pretty good at staying sober so far this season now that my 'take a drink every time Turner does a spin move' game is out the window. It's just been replaced by 'Carmelo takes two jab steps and shoots and misses a 20 footer'. I would honestly rather see more time going to Little and Hoard at the SF or PF position. I don't think Carmelo at this stage can contribute any more to the W column than either of those two...

hot take.... Melo will help them! I mean they are playing Tolliver and Hezonja for hells sakes... those guys are worse defenders and I think Melo gives them more than those dudes. That said I’m sure DM has Portland circled on the calendar... he gonna go for 50.
