Veteran Utah Jazz center Memo Okur is reportedly negotiating to play this season in his native Turkey.

According to MixBasket, Fenerbahce Istanbul and Okur are discussing a one-year deal with an out-clause when the NBA lockout ends.

In nine NBA seasons, Okur has played 617 games. He has averaged 13.7 points per game and 7.1 rebounds. Last season, however, he missed all but 13 games after rupturing his Achilles tendon during the first round of the 2010 playoffs.

Memo's grandpa was from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina which happened to be my native country. "nakit" actually means jewelry over there, while money translates to "novac", "pare" or "lova" which would really sound ridiculous after someone scores a three point shot. :D I'm sure they would be better of by shouting "money" in Turkey as well.

A jewel of a shot, perhaps?

not sure if its possible due to fiba rules

FIBA has already approved NBA players signing contracts to play outside of the US for as long as the lockout lasts. I don't have a lnk, but I imagine all contracts would have an out clause for the players to return to the NBA when the labor situation is resolved.
