mevsMJ.com: Me vs Rodney Hood

I love that we somehow got Rodney on our team. It frustrates me when I hear people so readily willing to include Hood in their mock efforts to trade up in the draft.

When we get a player of this character and talent and who fits in so well with our team, we hang onto guys like this. He is going to be a key factor in Jazz success in the future and I hope for a long time after an extension.

Agree a million percent. Same goes for Favors.

Can't say that he'll NEVER be traded, but DL has said on a few occasions he envisions Hood being a long-term member of the team. That was pretty impressive for a GM to say that about a rookie. We've found our Manu Ginobili to come off the bench (assuming Burks starts). Hood is still going to get 25-30 mins and will shot 40%+ on his 3's.

Hood is better as a starter and Burks is better as a 6th man. I've already made up my mind that that's what will be happening this season to the point that I'll be somehow surprised that I'm wrong.

Can't argue with that. Hood really complements the starting group because they need perimeter shooting. Burks can be effective running the offense when Gordon sits. Of course, the drawback is that Trey will never let Burks have the ball.

If Trey doesn't share the ball with Burks I'll bet it won't be very long until he's sitting on the bench watching Cotton play.

I think Hood will be the surprise next year. I think he will come in and take everyone by storm and set the team on it's ear. I see some of Alan Houston in him, maybe even some of Reggie Miller once he gets some experience. I think he is going to turn heads.

I agree with everything but the "it's".

I like the Alan Houston comp

This. If RH were in this draft, knowing what we know now, where would he get picked? I'd say top 10, maybe as high as 5 or as low as 15. And with the Jazz need for shooting (and the relative value of shooters at an all-time high -- see Booker) no way he gets traded to move up. The knock on his defense has been addressed.

I think that New York would give him a hard look at 5, but he wouldn't slip past the Nuggets at 7.
