Mic’d up segment Donovan/Quin

I don’t know that I see a ton in those mic’d up clips. I did like Mike’s reaction to duck in and start the “ra ra” clapping to break up the awkward exchange between Quin and Rudy.

I appreciate the low drama guys like Mike and Bogey just being pros, man.

There’s clearly some stink somewhere on this team. It sure feels like Quin, Donovan, and Rudy are all neck deep in it. Don’t know who or what the problem is, but I can tell you I’ve not appreciated how Quin has basically coddled his guys the last month.

Joe really may have been the straw that stirred the drink.

Is it really that shocking to you that the Utah Jazz fanbase, a fanbase that has been molded for the last 30 years to hate selfish volume scorers, is going to turn on Donovan Mitchell?

And IDK if the casuals have turned on him yet, but it's clear the more dedicated side of the fanbase already has or is beginning to.

Last year it was **** on Rudy-Fest after Game 6. Even you were ******** on him and acting like it was his fault the defense sucked in game 6. It was the most embarrassing **** on the board possible and really hurt your credibility as someone who can watch a basketball game and understand what is happening,

Now that smarter minds have prevailed the rest of the casual fans are starting to take notice of the real issues, and those start with how ****** the perimeter defense is. There is one player on the team who has all the potential in the world to be a good defender, but is instead one of the worst in the NBA.

*ALSO* you are so desperate to crown Donovan the leader of the team and the best player, but you act like a little bitch when he starts getting the blame. I thought the best player was supposed to shoulder the blame?

This is the dumbest ****ing conversation on the board.

Both Rudy and Donovan need the same type of players around them. They are insanely symbiotic on the court, which is what make the whole relationship being **** so sad.

Both players need a dedicated starting level PG on the team. Mitchell is naturally score first mentality and can't properly balance scoring/facilitating throughout the course of a game consistently. Would it be better if this player was taller/longer, sure, but you can't get everything you want. Mitchell is also incapable of feeding Gobert consistently, so Gobert needs a PG for that. *This is where the loss of Ingles is so crucial because he helped Gobert and Mitchell out so much as he was our best passer for the past handful of years*

Both players need spacing. Since the main weapon we have is the Gobert/Mitchell PNR, we need spacing around it. Getting shooters, which is what Utah did, greatly benefits both Don and Rudy.

The issue is that we did so much to address the needs of Gobert AND Mitchell on the offensive end that we completely ignored the defensive end. I think the Jazz FO both overrated how much Rudy can cover up on D and how much effort Mitchell would be willing to play with on that end. I doubt the Jazz could foresee how ****ing lazy Mitchell would become on defense.

And obviously Rudy isnt a buddy/buddy type dude. I doubt he wants to be friends with his coworkers like that. I think he probably has his Day 1 dudes and he keeps his circle small. Maybe that rubs people the wrong way vs Mitchell's more charismatic appeal. I dont think the FO has gone out of there way to get either players friends on the team. I think that is overblown by people.

I have no problem with a player being selfish on offense as long as they are efficient. My upbringing from my AAU, HS and college coaches all taught similar concepts. Work hard on both ends, and get the best shot. If you have a good shot you can make, take it. It isn't a "Jazz" thing. My problem is a player that won't hustle on both ends.

It was one play, but Donovan walking up the ball, with no pressure, and getting a backcourt violation may have cost us the Denver series. This whole teams seems to be strolling when other teams are sprinting. Selfishness and laziness on D are my biggest issue. Don still seems to just walk the ball up. Push the damn ball in the playoffs.

The thing is, a proper coach would ensure that **** doesn't happen. Sloan quit when a player wasn't running the right sets, and management wouldn't let him bench the guy. Soft *** **** from our management.

I would rather have players that buy in and play a team game, but have no issue with someone who can get theirs on offense as long as they compete hard on both ends. Kobe was selfish, but was a very hard working defender.

If ****ing Hayward hadn't bailed. Maybe Mitchell finds his place on the team by being the defender he was projected to be coming out of the draft and getting wide open three-point shots. Over time his game could grow into the all-purpose scorer, but with less pressure and volume needed. If he had earned his stripes as a 3 and D player, instead of being handed a team his rookie year his trajectory is probably SO much better.

It's so hard to take his 'passion and intensity' seriously when he has the tools to be a top tier defender, and simply doesn't give a ****.

It's really too bad. We'll be playing the 'what if' game with this team for a generation.

Conley was brought in for everybody. A "cater to Don" move would have been getting a wing instead of an undersized PG known for leading his own team.
Royce was given a chance because he was close to Don, but Royce earned his contract. Don has zero impact on who plays or gets paid.

Offensively, we run stuff purposefully for Bojan. Conley. Don. Clarkson. At the end of games, it's ends up in Don's hands because we lack creative options with our closing 5.

Rudy has been here and supported the whole time. But regardless, are you giving Rudy reasons (excuses rather) to be a diva? Because he's not catered to enough?

I'm willing to bet Rudy complains all the time behind closed doors. Hell, he complained to the media about touches during the 20-21 season while we were doing well. He publically complains all the time which irritates his coaching staff and teammates.

So many of you have built up in your mind that Rudy is some guy who tries the hardest, says all the right things and is never to blame for our shortcomings. What if he is the massive diva disrupting the lockerroom?

I bet he complained about shot attempts in Game 1 even though we won the game. Pathetic
