What's new

Mike Conley gets his first look at Salt Lake City

If he truly kills it this year he will command a Max somewhere. Many don't view 31 as that old any more, and if he puts together 2 career years in a row he'll be getting large offers from teams on the fringe. I think it would be nice to get him for 3|60 but I think it'll be North of there
Would Utah give him the Max? They'd have one more year under the tax as Mitchell is still on his rookie contract and Rudy is signed for $25M. Year after, Rudy gets a new contract as does Mitchell. Dante will drop off, but Royce gets a significant raise, if we keep him. Not sure if Ingles will still want to play. I could see Brantley as a starter at PF in 2 years.

Probably will land Utah in the luxury tax to keep a contender together. Ownership should be willing to do it, as they shoveled a ton of profits into the bank when the Jazz were at/near the bottom of the league for several seasons.

I would imagine that the jazz max don and super max Gobert, or close to super max

Agree. Which makes giving Conley a Max contract difficult, since they also have Bojan on the books for $18M. Just those 4 contracts might put them north of $120M. Do they then go with young guys or count on vets at/near the minimum instead of Ingles and O'Neal?

The good news is we can go into the LT to bring him back if that's the case. And honestly I think we'd be willing to. If he kills it to the point where he's a max guy at 33 years old, that means we're legitimately in Finals contention.

I think it's funny they put these videos out of him in Utah. The trade wasn't official until the 6th (and he was and is still in Vegas). Somebody alert Adam Silver.
