Only thing that really worries me is that he tries to have his say on basketball happenings. Best thing about Gail is that she had no hand in that stuff.
 
Good. Now change the racist team name and move to Seattle. I heard the new name will be BLM SJ Dubs. Annnnnnnd... tickets will be free along with everything else as soon as Biden becomes president.

Bro's think about this. None of us will have to work again. And since Covid-19 will never go away it makes perfect sense to stay indoors and watch basketball all day long. They can make the season go all year long.

-I will be the first to say that I would not be wildly upset if they moved the team to Seattle. But only Seattle. I dig the hell out of that place and if there’s a market that might have some reverence for the opportunity it would be them, not to mention that it’s not a crazy distance away. And though them staying is absolutely my preference, Utah doesn’t deserve a team - let alone this team - frankly.

Coincidentally I feel the same way about Seattle, Ive spent a lot of time there and consider it a second home. Though if the Jazz head there I probably would too (for other reasons, but that would clinch it.)

New owners always want to put their stamp on the team (see Vivek) hopefully he takes the Ballmer approach and eases into meddling.
 
I don't know why he'd move the team... they make money... they have great support and he's a local dude. I get that Seattle is a great market but the NBA generally only move underperforming markets... the Grizzlies are much more likely to move than us.
 
A few things:

- Ryan Smith is a new rich person. Like within the past decade. I don't question his commitment to the team as he seems to be a die-hard. He's also from here. However, this is a major purchase. For someone with new money this may have a lot of unexpected surprises, and that would be the biggest thing that could make them in Utah unstable.

- Apparently he sold his company for $8B. Google search says he may be worth about 3 billion. Who knows how much of that is tied up. Gail Miller's net worth is estimated at about $1.7B, so I guess that's good. Guys like Mark Cuban who have been perceived as willing to spend and being big fans of their team, he's worth $4B. I don't know what to make of a lot of this, but investing a large portion of your net worth into one basket can get risky.

- I've heard he follows my posts of JFC and is a big fan of a lot of my ideas, so there's that. Maybe I'll be GM.
 
I think this may end up being good. He got a solid purchase price... and they may have had some stipulations on moving the team. Having someone passionate run the team could be good. Gail is straight class and should be saluted.

I'm guessing it wasn't a cash purchase... so he's likely pretty solvent.

I hope you are not the GM... but I will know when Ryan's first announcement is that we have signed Niko to a max contract that you will have some influence.
