Millsap + #9 to NJ for #3

Don't think there's anyway Nets trade the #3. It will be Favors. Favors and Lopez on the frontline for next ten years plus Nets have money to sign two all star caliber players. A SF and SG with Favors, Lopez, Harris is an instant playoff team first year together and could contend very quickly.

The Jazz's last #3 pick in the draft worked out pretty well. If the Jazz bring in Derrick Favors, I don't think the fans will worry about it too much.

Exactly. We either lose Millsap and Boozer and gain Favors, or lose only Boozer and gain aldrich/monroe. Imagine if we kept boozer and drafted favors.. that would be a dream scenario.

How do you know this for sure? It may or may not happen, the point was I would rather have favors than millsap, talentwise and financially.

How do I know? Basic common sense. You're essentially saying there's a greater than 50% chance that he'll be an all-star on his rookie contract.

I dont get the allstar in first couple years talk. Or the comment that WORST case scenario he will be as good as Millsap. There are far worse cases, and him being at Millsap's level isnt all that bad. Im not a huge Millsap fan or totally convinced he is the answer, but to suggest a total unknown will automatically be at least as good as him is very premature, IMO.

My point was that I think favors on his rookie contract will be a better deal than millsap on his contract.

I want to see our team take a risk. From what I have seen of him, I think Favors has unlimited potential, and put in the right system with the right coach and point guard like deron, chances are high that he will ultimately reach his potential.

I never said there was a greater than 50% chance. What I'm saying is there is a chance this kid can be really good, all star good. We know millsap will not turn into a superstar, so why not roll the dice and take a chance on favors if we had the opportunity? How often do we get to draft a player with such high potential? This kind of conservative thinking is why we have never won a title.

Favors is being projected as the next Dwight Howard. There is no one in the league who would ever give up Howard for Millsap. Nets won't give up Favors for Millsap either. Nets will want a lot for the #3 pick if they even decide to trade it.

And the liberal thinking of the Clippers is why they have never even come close to winning a title. Same with every other team. Look at who has won titles in the past 30 years. Only the Pistons in '04 and the Celtics in '08 really took a big risk like that. Bird and Magic were high draft picks. Neither traded up. The bad boy Pistons were built over the long haul and were the same team that lost in '88. Bulls drafted Jordan. Rockets drafted Hakeem. Spurs drafted Duncan and earlier Robinson with lady luck. Lakers signed Shaq, no risk there, and had the luxury of Bryant refusing to play unless he was on the Lakers. Then they made a no brainer trade that is hard to come by.

Risky business does not win championships.

I agree. Over the last 30 years and I'm just guessing right now but 25 of those teams had one of the top five players in the league on their roster. So unless Jazz do manage to get a top five player on their roster chances are slim they can win a title. Deron is not a top five player and chances are slim he will ever break into that elite group. Jazz missed their chance to get the top pick this year with the Knicks pick and and may not get that chance again for a while.

I'd probably do it because its the only hope of getting another superstar next to DWill anytime in the next 5 years. No one at #9 has superstar potential, and certainly no one in the 20s where will be drafting next year and the following.

I'd do it, but there's no way in hell NJ does (costs them way too much money and what do they get out of it? A nice role-player?).

Agree - to extend this, the MVP of the league has been in the finals about 25/30 years (and runner up is there too...) You CAN get to finals without MVP caliber player- but unlikely, it is highly unlikely to win in finals with out MVP. (not impossible, i.e detroit)

Yes you did say that. And you don't even know it.
