Millsap is a very good sixth man on a contender. Will score his points and rebound the ball. Play hard. He is a fan favourite. Has solid basketball IQ as well. But he is not more than a good role player, a borderline All-Star at best, but not All-Star caliber. Worth 7-8 millions per year and not one cent more. If he is willing to accept a role coming of the bench, I'd be ok with a 21/3 type of a contract. He often gets abused by quicker and bigger players at the power forward position and would play out of position at the three. For us to get to the next level, he needs to accept a role coming of the bench. He might have good chances to start this year, but Favors and Kanter are our future starting twin towers.

I think in light of the current NBA trend of players clamoring to get on good teams. Paul should look around and see this is a good spot if he wants to win. Therefore, he really needs to consider coming off the bench if we need him there. It would be foolish of him to run off next year to some crappy team, just so he can start. His attitude seems to be slowly shifting to a selfish point of view. I think that is a small issue that the team has to be considering. What if we extend him? Does that mean he is unwilling to come off the bench through his whole contract? I think maybe the Jazz need to have a heart to heart about where his head is at first, before they make a decision. Paul would be dumb not to agree to a possible bench role. He has to look around and see that this team is going to be good. This assuming Kanter will be ready in a couple years for starter minutes

So......that statement would be telegraphing to the world that the Jazz have a potential trade on the table with Toronto to take Lillard.
First six picks *should* be: Davis, Robinson, K-Gilly, Beal, Drummond and Barnes (in some order). If one of them slips to 7, GSW will almost certainly take that player. So in this theoretical world, Lillard would just need to slip past Golden State. DraftExpress is listing Lillard as the 7th player taken. If GS drafts Lillard, they are probably doing this as part of a trade scenario. I don't think Lillard is too high on their list.

Right, but judging from his uncle/agents comments afterwards, I'd say there were definately hard feelings over the way Utah handled it. So does that mean Sap is going to expect Utah to just dump a ton of money on him this time, in order to make up for it?
Sap is probably going to want a boatload of cash, and I'm not too sure our FO is going to be on board with that, considering the new CBA isn't going to make it any easier this time around. Any nickel and diming done by the FO is likely to piss him off. So in other words, I think trading him may very well end up being an option. We'll see.

Paul is an amazing power forward who grows every year. How often do you get a guy with that kind of talent that wants to be in utah? Extend his contract and make some damn moves to give him a supporting cast of athletes! Fire KOC. There are many GM's for hire without their head in their ***.
I just think that if the player the Jazz are targeting is avaiable after 7 the chances of a trade start going up.

Millsap's one hell of a double-edged sword. He's our best player. He brings what you want in a player. And he deserves to be paid. But he's still undersized and I question whether he can start on a championship team here in Utah. I want to extend him but not at a price tag that's going to screw us or make him untradeable should the time come that we determine it's time to move on. I'd say a five year, 47.5M deal that's frontloaded may be attractive for both parties and won't hurt us financially as I see it. 11M, 10.25M, 9.5M, 8.75M, 8M.
