Milwakee broadcaster says what... (its about Rudy Gobert)

Not really. We had picks 14 and 21. Giannis went 15th. There were only 1 or 2 other teams that could have taken both without a trade.
The Jazz aquired Gobert via trade. Trades are common on draft day. In other words as Siro was suggesting, almost any team could have made trades to grab picks that could have been used for Giannis or Rudy. If they had known how good these two guys were going to be almost every GM would have made the trades necessary to grab those picks.

Whatever. I'm just saying the Jazz were in perfect position to logically take them both without a trade. And FWIW trades are not that common on draft day. Especially trades in the top 15 players.

We got one of the two, and we got him via trade.

20/20 hindsight criticisms drive me crazy. It's one thing to say beforehand that this is what the Jazz should do with their picks. It is quite another to criticize them two years later for not knowing then what you know now. If GMs had crystal balls then neither of those two guys would have been available where the Jazz were drafting.

Agreed. People who look back and say the Jazz suck because they didn't pick so-and-so now that so-and-so is a star player just don't seem to have a firm grip on reality.

Don't know how long you've been watching the Jazz, but Deron used to own Chrissy for years in head to head matchups, and guys like Barkley called Deron the best PG in the league at one time. Far from being a homeristic statement by Matty. Obviously their career paths are like night and day now, but for a short time Deron was considered right there, if not the best by people around the league.
IIRC Dwill had always had the better game when playing Chris Paul but overall Paul was widely regarded as the better player?

I dunno may be I remembered it wrong....

I'd say more people considered Paul the better player, but it's not like it was cut and dry. The Jazz were better than the NOH at the time and Deron generally played better than Paul H2H. Paul was THE star of a bad team, so his numbers were better most of the time. And keep in mind, us Jazz fans are used to thinking that there is an anti-Utah bias in the NBA, so we figured they just weren't giving Deron his due respect.

Matt Harpring would say all the time on the broadcast that DWill belongs with Chris Paul in the Best Point Guard conversation....

Now we all know that's not true, but it's what the home crowd wants to hear.

(he then backtracked on it once DWill is traded).

In Dwill's prime in Utah this was true. Also CP3 is overrated. CP3 hasn't done anything more than Dwill has.....trip to the WCF.

Listen I'm not saying Matt is a bad broadcaster at all. All I'm just saying there is a tendency to be a little bias towards the home team when we're not Nationally telecasted like ESPN. Most of the time I jist sit and smile though ... ^__^

This is how I remember it. They were close but most people had paul ahead of d will

It's ignorant posts like yours that drive me crazy. Where did I criticize anyone? I've never criticized DL or KOC for a draft pick. I was just saying that getting both could easily have happened.

And had I known last night's winning lottery number beforehand, I would have changed my name to Doctor Hindsight, right before purchasing the franchise. Worthless comments are worthless.
